Is there a list or a place where I can find out what old aircraft still exist and where they are?

I was just at the US navy museum's website and was looking the list of aircraft they have and I was amazed to see how many they have and that they have so many of the same planes that they have several displays or many "on-loan" to other museums. It got me thinking that there should be some sort of data base for all the old warbirds. Sure would make it easier to plan trips or do research and stuff

I'm thinking there must be a directory somewhere like what you describe, but personally I don't know.

Cool site. thanks for the link!

I guess there are so many birds still flying and on static display all over the world that a complete data base would be impossible. I'll just have to be happy that Willow run with the Yankee Air Force museum is a few minutes away and their annual show is this weekend, And this years theme is the Pacific theater http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

They have 14 TBMs showing up alone, not to mention Wildcats, Hellcats, Corsairs, etc etc etc....
