One last post before turning in tonight...

I have been doing alot of reading about the upcoming FS2004 and I found this EXCELLENT addon from a 3rd party.

The C-130 is in my humble opinion one of the prettiest heavies I can think of and this model looks just about as good as it can get.

Take a peek at the screens - comes with a whole host of skins, most importantly the Canadian!!!

Hope this isn't too OT....might be better than all the patch speculation /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Great airplane!! The equal of the C47 in Its era!!!

I fle MANY hours in special C130's modified for intrelligence/reconnaissance operations back in the 60's, 70,s.....Clue was, the recce birds had Phony wing fuel tnks mounted Outward from the Outward enginesNumbers one and four, port and Starboard....

It was said/ rumored that a C-130 could get home on ONE engine out of the four... I KNOW it could/did it on Two!

Yes, but where are the big guns? WHERE ARE THE BIG GUNS?

Ahem, sorry about that. Lost it for a moment there. Nice plane!

Damn that plane looks sick. FS2004 is going to hold me over until Lock On comes out (probably next summer).

think someone modelled an AC130 gunship for one of the BF42 mods.

Desert Combat has an AC-130 gunship, though it's friggin undestructable (crash a plane into it and it's still new).

Wow, microsofts assish ground textures sure dont do that masterpiece justice. They really need to work on making the ground real looking, it would really add to the game huge.

To me, it is just one of the numerous expensive "must-have" M$FS add-ons.

Really, I gave up on FS because you should empty your wallet to go along with the rest.

plenty of freebie FS2002 planes at www.flightsims.com (http://www.flightsims.com)

but yeah the best addons for any software are often commercial ones developed by fulltime programmers being paid to do it .. thats just the way it is

The refueling prob is Brit only though, incorrect on other types. Sure, some US types were fitted with prob type booms, but not that type.

Oh, and A models had outboard fuel bags, they weren't fake.

Great aircraft, long range, relatively slow speed/high speed, good cockpit view and some of them are even fitted for landing on ice. The dream to have here in Sondrestrom in case of an aircraft emergency /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I flew almost 1000 hours on them in the early 70's. I wasn't the pilot, but a PJ.

We had special rescue versions with internal fuel tanks, refueling gondolas for the Jolly Greens (HH-3 and HH-53 Helos), and sattelite tracking radar in a dorsal hump just behind the cockpit. There were special seats up front next to huge observer windows, installed just aft of the bulkhead.

The snout had the folding Fulton Recovery System pincers. The back ramp had rails to deliver the system for trapping spacecraft loose on the ocean. It was called an ODS (overhead delivery system). The ramp also had a flare delivery system that put flares through the ramp when closed.

Flew the Atlantic in one. Not fun. My butt vibrated several hours after the flight.

From the Phillipines we flew huge orbits over the Phillipine Sea between the PI and Viet-Nam. We were there in case a B-52, bombing Cambodia, got into trouble. One never did. Amazingly boring flights. we called tham "Duck Butts".

Imagine my surprise when President Nixon said we were honoring Cambodia's neutrality. Dang, I KNEW he was lying! A funny feeling back then, to KNOW your President was lying out his butt,

Talkin to soem RAAF boys recently about the new ones being delivered over the past few years.

They claim technically they may be better but the quality contol is way down (different factory?) compared to the earlier ones and some of them have had to be virtually rebuilt before the RAAF would let them go operational.

Altough I must admit they did a fine job on the C-130!! (always check things out if you are going to comment about it.)

I remember flying on a Herc when I was very young, we had been to an airshow and got a lift back home in one, unfortunately the only thing I can really remember about it was the lack of toilets and having an 'accident' only minutes from landing.

Oh well.
