View Full Version : Small Feature Request

I'd like to request that pilots have the option of what guns are fired with what trigger.

Some of the German fighters could link guns to their trigger in the way that the pilot prefered, for example I believe the thumb button could fire the outboard guns or be linked to fire the cowl MG's on the 190 while the trigger button could be used to fire them all together. (anyone feel free to clarify or elaborate on this)

While probably not totally historic, it would allow for online pilots to customize what pairs of guns they fire and to have more options about when to use gun pods.

In the arming screen I could see the option for customizing a plane's configuration so that you could bind your gun settings based on what plane you are flying and have those settings saved. If possible, it would allow you to customize your gun settings (and perhaps even convergance) for each kind of plane you fly, that way you could switch from plane to plane and not have to bind your keys each time.

For example if I fly the K4, I prefer to have the MG's and the 108's fire independantly of each other due to the limited firing time of the 108.

On the A5 I would rather have the 4 20mm's fire all together instead of 2 20's and 2MG for weapon 1 and 2 20mm's for weapon 2...it would be more logical to fire the MG's together and the cannons seperately instead of mixing and matching.

For example:

FW190A9

Pair 1 = 2 20mm inboard cannons
Pair 2 = 2 20mm outboard cannons
Pair 3 = 2 MG

Bindings = Weapon 1 is Pair 1+2 Weapon 2 is Pair 3

FW190A9 with MK108 wing cannons:

Pair 1 = 2 MK108 wing cannons
Pair 2 = 2 inboard cannons
Pair 3 = MG

Bindings: Weapon 1 is Pair 1. Weapon 2 is Pair 2+3

If you expand on the functionality, the intent is let you fire your guns in logical groupings...when I attack a B17 for example, it has little effect to fire the MG's at all, so I would fire with just the MK108's in that case and save my 20mm and MG ammo for something else. Say I come up on a fighter during a BnZ attack and don't want to waste the mk108 rounds, I would just fire the weapon 2 and only the MG and 20mm would be fired, leaving my heavy rounds for the bombers.

I understand that it's not completely historical but it would be a nice touch and add to the playability of the game which would add that much more to it's appeal. I also don't know if this is too difficult to implement, if there is enough time left before the addon or even if I am making sense, but I hope that you get my drift.

With so many great things about the game in play right now and more on the way, I kind of feel guilty for asking this, but it's been something that I have wanted to bring up for a long time.

Thanks to 1C/Maddox for making a game so full of features that one must feel slightly embarrased to ask for more http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
