No offence, but instead of rubbing it in for all the ones of us who haven't got the money for it, why don't you buy a few computer magazines or read tecchie pages on the net..? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway, the last article I read about it, was this one: http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20040301/index.html

They are coming soon but they both are still a tad "buggy".

You lucky so-and-so http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

DDR2 might integrate like DDR did after SDRAM. It may not be as fast as the best DDR and take a number of months on the market to produce a significant improvement. PCI is a revolutionary design change and I wouldn't rely on it until its been out for a while. If you want the next generation technology wait another month or two when the next video cards from ATI and NVidia hit the market and reviews are written. Wait until these new components are out and prove themselves before spending the money. For a complete system you may have to wait until the latter part of this year.

I have just received a bit of inheritance from the death of my nana.

Normally I have no money as Im retired through ill health and have a daughter 3 and step son 11.

SO I know what its like to be poor.

Didnt mean to rub it in.

If it wasnt for this money I never would have beem able to upgrade so BOB would have been out of the question.

Yes I will wait for the tech to settle down.

I only have a 1.8xp Gforce4200ti and 512mb. But I cant afford to upgrade this then upgrade again so m having to wait. I might get myself a 19inch monitor though CRT one.

I'd wait at least a year to upgrade. Prices on the new technology may settle down by then.

If you haven't tried, overclocking might help make it a bit easier until the new system.

That machine won't last another year unless the only thing you intend to do is play FB, and even that is kinda iffy.

You can always play the 'wait' game but that is like a dog chasing it's tail. You can buy a machine with todays technology that will last you several years. The same will be true with whatever technology you wait for too, but why cheat yourself. Well, at least this is how I think about it.

Also, it really does take several months for new technology to settle in and being an early adopter can be more frustrating than you know. I know this from 1st hand experience. Wound up with a motherboad that would not run stable and finally after about a year of having to put up with it, the vendor recalled it and replaced it. I still had to buy RAM for the new board since the new board required RDRAM.

Go get an ABIT Max-3 975P Chipset mobo
P4 2.4GHZ or 2.6 GHZ
two 512 sticks of PC4000 ram
ATI 9800xt
2 WD Raptor 10k Sata hard drives
nice case
grab a nice heatsink (Thermalright SP-94)
two additional stealth fans

and overclock that baby like a madman!
