When I play I like to use wideview, but the only thing is everything gets so small. When you use gunsight view it zooms in so you can see everything and the opposite about wideview. Changing the FOV is actually a good thing as some people might like to use it, but I don't think it should zoom in. I think it should just simulate the pilot moving his head back and forth. Wideview should give you a widerview and not zoom out. I hope this might get looked into for an upcoming patch. How does everyone else feel about this?

How would you do that without zooming?

Without making the screen actually shrink in size?

Shift-F1 does what you're asking. Changing Field of View will by definition zoom in/out, it cannot be avoided. Shift-F1 moves the pilots head forward (how much depends on which plane) and in line with the gunsight.

if I understud right he want's to replace the zoom with headmovement.

I don't think this would work. The computer display is to limited. Zoom and wideview are a tradeoff between angle of view and size of the shown objects.

a solution would be to (unrealisticly) increase the size of objects in wideview. Better overview and compensation for different graphic abilities of PCs.
and wideview already looks unrealistic because of the "fish bowl" effect.

a good example of what I mean is ww2 fighters. That demonstrates the use of wideview without zooming out by using seat positioning.

I agree that wideview makes things too small and that narrowview kills SA. I would have liked a magnified view of objects in wide view but I'm not holding my breath. I'd be happy if they made the graphics a little clearer (less tinting), but I'm not optimistic that will change either.

Authenticity apparently takes precedence over gameplay in this instance, although I still think the sky is too dark and the dots are too light, which makes things worse than real life..
