To all you full real jocks Welcome to BIRDS of Prey . You dont have to worry about not being able to find a full real server anymore. I know that we cant make all of you happy but at least we put up a good effort and you have somewhere where you can go and fly 24/7 plus we hope you like the server. The server is on Hyperlobby. Just look for BIRDSOFPREY-FR.

Great news Osirisx9!

My wingman and I used to fly on a Russian server that was full-real and we enjoyed it the most. ID'ing aircraft is half the fun once you get into it.

Thanks for hosting, <S>

"So when Diogenes perceived that he was greatly excited and quite keyed up in mind with expectancy, he toyed with him and pulled him about in the hope that somehow he might be moved from his pride and thirst for glory and be able to sober up a little. For he noticed that at one time he was delighted, and at another grieved at the same thing, and that his soul was as unsettled as the weather at the solstices when both rain and sunshine come from the very same source."

Full real as in no speedbar? or the fake almost full real with the Digital HUD?

Like I said earlier , we cant make everyone happy. A few of the aircraft do have their airspeed indicators and altimeters blocked by cockpit structures. Besides there are ways that you can turn the hud log and speedbar off if you like.Thats what I do btw. I dont think it will give anyone an advantage if the two items were left on. Just come and check out the server. Its here now so take advantage of it. Or if you dont like it keep flying on servers where that and a number of other things turned on too. The point is you have a server that caters to you and dont let something as minor as huds log or speedbar stop you from enjoying a great server (BIRDSOFPREY-FR).

Thanks for that Osiris, having the speedbar and map path on is no biggy IMHO. I use the speedbar to help judge landing speeds and as you pointed out it can be switched off anyway. My ping wasn't too bad either at 180 considering I'm across the Atlantic and on a 56k connection, though I expect it'll go up once more people are on.

You will be fine. The pings are very stable for most who join the server. There is one player form the UK and he consitanly gets pings in the high 80s and he is on 56k. Also lets get the word out. I cecked earlier today on hyperlobby and the server was still silent. It doesn't help when Hyperlobby keeps hiding the server(due to inactivity). If you dont see the server in the "Games in Progress" list just go to the the ingame list, scroll all the way down the list until you see "H" for hosts. Then scroll further until you will see BIRDSOFPREY_FR. The more people join the server the more it will be visible to other Full Real pilots on hyperlobby. That will keep them from going to the other rooms.

I have a request or question though: is there a plan for setting up a second server with a higher ping-kick...say 400? The current one is not an issue for me, but is for a couple squaddies over the pond or on dialup.

Just wonderin'.

LOL I did not say in anyway that I would not come and join your server, and I was not complaining that I did not like the settings your server uses.. I was just saying its kinda funny how full real servers are called full real yet some of them still have the HUD, which to me is one of the most blaringly obvious unrealistic things... not that I dont play on servers with it switched on, ofcourse I do http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
you can call CFS2 alot of things, but hey it didnt have a HUD, strange how we flew that for years without complaint, and now in IL2 we have all become so used to having that digital readout.

Oops! Was a beer night last night. Don't get me wrong here. After owning a TOR for almost 3 years, I've finally become quite adept with it with IL-2 and now I don't want to fly without it. No, it don't take 3 years to become good with TIR, but I never felt any motivation to get used to it with IL-2 until recently, and now I'm addicted.

I still love flying on those 'arcade - kill me fast' servers, but my preference is now for FR/Difficulty servers.

I am still trying to adjust to the flight time between kills, and I doubt I'll ever get used to that, though I do understand that many pilots went entire tours without getting a kill. But in reality, surviving a tour would be perfectly fine, in a real war!

You FR guys need to understand that us comming from the fast kill/get kill arena, want to come here. Both arenas have their own merits that fit style, time schedules, or whatever.

We need to understand this and stop looking down our nose, and stop calling FR pilots geeks.

Since I feel I'm somewhat in the middle, I think I'm perfectly qualified to call any FR pilot a geek :-)

Hey Slammin
Come and join us in BIRDS OF Prey FR,. You can jump on the servers Team Speak and drink your beers while you hold that stick with two fingers and search the horizon for victims. We just wanted our flagship server to be a place were those who are intrested in the Full Real experience can come and have fun , chat on the comms, build great friendships, and enjoy each others company flying Full Real combat. A funny thing happens when you meet another pilot on comms, hear a real voice for the first time and fight beside them in a Full Real setting while watching each others 6. I know that it has changed my perspective about many players and turned into lasting friendships. Anyone is welcomed and on this server they will not be frowned upon. There will always be someone to help them transition to FUll Real. I guess that we are all sort of geeky in some way or another so I wont take it hard if you call me a geek http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

I was very relieved to know you had the Me262 as a flyable aircraft. A couple JV44 guys showed up, I flew with em for a bit. I need more practice though. The best part is no lag. I'll be there later tonight, definatly.

i think it is possible to limit the number of me262s by only placing them at 1 base and limiting the amount of people that can take off from that base.

The maximum amount of Me262s that I've seen flying on the server at one time is maybe 2. It seems that no one really likes to fly them . They take all day to line up on the runway, their engines will blow up at a moments notice, and there is always someone ready to pounce on the thing as soon as the wheels are off the tarmac. Below 400kph they are basically useless( thats becasue I dont know how to fly them that well). I ran down a couple while flying the P-38j(What a Great plane)That thing can really accelerate. It would be great if someone would master the aircraft. The nice thig about full real is that you have to get close to ID the aircraft before you blow it out of the sky because you dont have the luxury if Icons. In a server with liberal icon settings a Me262 would clean house. I find that when I fly the Me262 I have to troll around at 400kph sneak up on a potential victms six (this trick doesn't work on spitfires and P-47s and p-38s. The smoke trail shows up nice in the rear view mirror) gun the engines and fire a few rounds after I Id the victim. This is at close range so you have to be pretty quick. Most of the time I miss the target however. What I'm trying to say basically is that the aircraft looses a unrealistic advantages under full real sessions and that is the ability to positivley ID a target from 2k and further. Right now the only advantages it has over the other allied aircraft are its level speed and firepower. Dont forget that the P-51, and P-47 and P-38 L will catch it in a dive. BTW so far the overall attitude about the Me262 has been very positive. It seems to have become the new juicy target http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. But its definatley open for further discussion. Like I said earlier BIRDSOFPREY_FR the Flagship of the Warbirds Of Prey main server Warbirds1 will be the home of the full real pilots. We are family. There will be more server options available for the Full real crowd in the future, but that will depend on the respose and feedback that we get off of BIRDSOFPREY_FR. Anyway keep enjoying the server and thanks for stopping by.

As good as the P-38 is, it's silhouette makes it stand out a mile away. Yesterday a P-38 had 2 or 3 German fighters swarming all over it whilst the Spitfire nearby got away easily as no-one was close enough to ID it or thought it was another German fighter.

Hello Osirsx9 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have used your server twice yesterday and it is very smooth and nice, the only temporary problem was that I was the only one on it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.
I say temporary because I remember "war clouds" started the same way http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, so hopefully things will pick up with regular players, and the numbers will raise.

Thank you for providing the server and I look forward to using it on a regular basis http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Just remember to tell your full real buddies. We had a decent turnout yesterday evening. But the server is open 24/7 . It will improve once individuals learn that the server is as smooth as it gets with virtually 0 lag if you make sure that your network is set to cable/dsl instead of 14k/. Plus anyone who joins this server will notice that there pings are very low and no loss in packets.

Hmnn Your post confuses me a little. are you trying to say that i said the second part of that quote????? I dont think you are . But I think your trying to say that you did see allied planes shooting down allied planes. 2 things could have happened:
1 because the server does not have Icons enabled, It is possible to shoot down a friendly if you do not id the aircraft properly. Id-ing aircraft comes with practice, after a while you will know what to look for.
2 You were in another server where each side fly the same set of aircraft and with labels enabled.
If it is indeed #1, that sort of thing happens on full real servers from time to time, especially if the offending individual is new at flying full real.

Personaly I believe that you were on a totally differenty server, and anyone that flew on the BIRDSOFPREY_FR server in the past couple of days will come to the same conclusion.
Please next time be make sure that your information is in order before you post, and I forgive you for using my callsign in a misquote. I never said:

This is an excellent server and the most lag-free one that I have played in with that many people. WarClouds is good as well and I will still fly there to. I like the death kick option at times but sometimes I want to fly my MK108 magnet (P-38) and hit some ground targets and be able to stay in a game, with DK for a decent amount of time.

The servers cpu is usually at about 2-5% when there are about 32 players playing. Also the reason why we dont use deathkick is that the server is setup to handle 99 players. I doubt most PCs can handle that many players at one time, but one night last week there were 37 playes on for about 30 minutes. The server was running 3% consistantly and using 475mbs of bandwidth. All of the pings were below 250 too.

The servers cpu is usually at about 2-5% when there are about 32 players playing. Also the reason why we dont use deathkick is that the server is setup to handle 99 players. I doubt most PCs can handle that many players at one time, but one night last week there were 37 playes on for about 30 minutes. The server was running 3% consistantly and using 475kbs of bandwidth. All of the pings were below 250 too.
