Before I moaned at I have used the search function and followed advice in the threads found but I still have problems.

I have the ED 3D glasses
My system
Radion 9800XT
64 bit AMD 3200
3.9 Cat Drivers (have tried the 4.7 and work well for IL2FB but cut about 10 FPS off in F1C so have gone back to 3.9)

I run IL2FB in Driect X (see driver reason above) but have tried in open GL too

I just can't get the ED glasses to work - In open GL I get thin blue lines through the screen and in Direct X the display is totally screwed.

They work great in LockOn and with F1C - So I guess thin implies its not PC set up but game specific - any one able to offer any new advice or have them working well on an ATI card?

I think there was a post on this a week or so back so it should be fresh in peoples' minds. If i remember rightly the people using the glasses were pretty happy with the performance of the glasses apart from the frame rate dropping by about 10 FPS. Have u tried posting in community help?

AFAIK 3D shutter glasses do NOT WORK with ATI cards, only NVidea (not all models) and only with the extra 3d drivers...

Jason.

Which version of the ED driver do you have?

I too have an 9800XT and ED glasses but have been unable to get them to work.

The glasses worked well with the nVidia card, a Ti4200, but closest I have got to getting them to work was with H&D2.

I haven't tried them with Lock-On yet (but will now) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The glasses do not seem to work with IL2/FB any more with either nVidia or ATI cards, the original IL2 however does still work with nVidia cards (I haven't tested with ATI).

Please advise the driver version you have, ED don't seem to be too keen pn publishing their ATI drivers http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hi

Did not get a chance to have a look at my ED driver version yesterday. However I did e-mail E-dimensional to let them know about the problem and they have sent me their new Beta ATI drivers!!!!

Version 3.8.1.0-3

I will test tonight and post back the results.

Don't suppose you would feel like sharing those drivers?

Been a great frustration getting updated drivers, losing my mail file with the ED order number really helped, and they don't seem to be too on the ball with keeping customers up to date!

Ok, I stopped being lazy and resorted to my backup hard drive, recovered mail, just emailed EDimensional so will see what they come back with http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi Jason.

Yes I have them now, arrived last night.

Will test over the weekend as I have a wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs and four cats giving me an ear bashing!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well after more testing I did not get the new ones to work (have not yet tried Open GL but the new drivers look like they only cover Dx)

I have also tried the Omega 4.7 drivers and they deliver the performance of the Cats 3.9 so I have now changed drivers - A happy chap about that.

I sent a note back to e-dim as below.....

Had a chance to test these now....

1st a few stats....

My system is

AMD64bit 3200
ATI 9800XT (with Cats 3.9 Drivers)
Windows XP Home - All updated applied
Direct x9b

I tried the following games
1. F1 Challenge 99'02 (EA Sports)
2. Lock On (Ubisoft)
3. IL2 Forgotten Battles (Ubisoft)

Findings
F1C started OK
LockOn and IL2 would not display the start page. Alt/Tab did not fix this. After guessing where some buttons are to get to the next screen, the display returned to normal for Lockon. Could not get IL2 display to come up. Can hear the music playing so the game is running. This was an issue in some of the early drivers - but is ok in the latest (non beta) release.

In Game

F1C - The display flickered more than the previous drivers and caused a bigger FPS drop than the previous drivers. Could not get the page flipping working at all

LockOn - Again more flickering and bigger FPS hit than current drivers. Page flipping showed on the screen as two good quality images but was not in sync with the glasses and worst of all the FPS went to 1 (one). Unplayable.

IL2 - Could not get passed the menu

Not too encouraging, I'll report back over the weekend with my findings.

Previously had the ATI working with H&D2 but could not get the weapon to look right, despite tweaking the backplane etc..

So many years later and, yes, edimensional glasses will work with the game on ATI cards using the universal drivers but only in interleaved mode. Nvidia's stereo drivers are much, much better.

Lately, I've been playing with a vuzix VR920 hmd which supports the game in S3D.

The bad news is : 16 bit colour only (for now - hopefully it can be upped in the future with a firmware upgrade) and that's like a step back in time after years of being used to 32 bit.

The good news is : a/c are drawn correctly at a distance (ie as single instead of double specks) and that in my books is a big plus.

If the colour resolution can be upped to 32-bit, the VR920 will be better than edimensional's glasses in dealing with 'the game'.
