Well we all know who were the Templars during the Crusade wars , we also know that liberattion of grave of Jesus Christ from heretics was just a excuse for a robbery and killing of many Muslims and Jews , but especially for robbery since back then Europe was a synomim for poverty, illiteracy and backwardness while people from Middle East already have a relatively developed a science, culture , they've also had alot of gold and jewelry and after the Crusade wars and that brutal robberies was actually started the economic scientific and cultural blooming in Europe.....etc.

When Templars robbed and stole enough gold , f and also a knowledges from people of Middle East , then they became enough powerful to turn their back to church and with that money they became the bankers, powerful merchants.....etc and they simply had enough power to shape the political scene and events in Europe by their own willing and interests , also they were establishing the kings and rulers who were their own puppets.etc...... but Vatican felt threatened couse of them and they were affraid they could lose a power , monopoly..........etc and they started to persecute them , to proclain them for satanists , heretics...etc , to burning them at the stake..........etc.
So they became illegal in Europe , something like public enemies and those smaller number of Templars who menaged to avoid incarceration or death they had to escape somewhere and they escaped to Scotland , in country which did not recognized the Catholic church and they felt safely over there , also in that period Scotland was in war with England and how they put themselves on the side of Scotland they got a freedom and influence over there , but still they needed a new identity since the hand of Vatican reaches very far........so over there they have infiltreted themselves into a one of the most influental civil society organisation of that time by name "Stonemason guild" , but guilds needed a political and phylosophical identity and they needed a funding and money how they could spread their influence and ideas and that's how was established the 1st masonic lodge , the 1st and oldest masonic lodge known as "Scottish Rite" was established by Templars.

So even today we have a 2 most powerful and influetal secret societies on the world , on one side we have a Jesuits loyal to the Vatican and on other side we have a Freemasons , they are in war for centuries (although they do cooperate on highest levels of power If they have a common intrests) and they says they are biggest enemies to each-others.
Today the Freemasons have the biggest influence in USA and UK (Protestant countries) , while the Jesuits are most influental in Europe where is mostly dominant the Catholic religion.
Also USA is established by Freemasons while on other side of the ocean we have the European Union which is creation by Jesuits.

Well this is very wide and deep topic and we could talk about it for days and days , so I will stop here for now.............but what do U think about Templars in AC universe , whether the Freemasons are actually the successors of the Templars ?

Asura sister!

When you come into places of discussion meant for the bookah, you have to make sure you know how to speak like them. They don't understand the terms and language of the vast intellect of our species.

There was a bunch of tunnels in ACIII along with cryptic Freemason messages as far as I remember. Guess they were different from Templars.

According to a reddit Q&A with Alex Hutchinson, Freemasons on the AC universe are not related to Assassins or Templars and are just some random, boring guys who have meetings.

Ya they made the freemasons allies of the Assassins in AC 3. They event went so far far as to portray them as innocently as possible despite the fact many of them were slave owners ie Sam Adams or whats his face with the surrie line. Guess they didn't want to insult America.

George Washington was inducted into Freemasonry in 1752 and greatly respected the order.

ehhh, they actually bring up the slavery and the end of the game is just a revelation in itself that the patriot leaders--many of whom were masons--are backstabbing, lying, thieving jerks.

The title made me giggle

Did the Templars actually the freemasons

AC canon: Templars =/= Freemasons. It's a fact in canon, don't bother arguing it, in a long shot it's pointless. It's set in stone and the facts is everywhere if you know where to look(I do btw).

Calling Shade or Loco for thread lock!

Well, we've already got The Knights Templar and the Assassins... there was probably no reason to add a third party to the mix :p

It's already happened. Erudito, Initiates, Instruments Of The First Will, Freemasons etc...

they're all one and the same

timeless

we don't really exist, the self is nonexistent, we are all singular, one with one another
