besides the cougar and the 45 (which I can't seem to find) what is a better than above average joystick?

How are the Logistics ones? Or should you stick with CH products.

Have MS Prec. Pro 3 and want to move up...

Course I'll still be a crappy pilot, but will have a better stick at least!

As always, appreciate your feedback and experiences...

I got an X45, but used to have a Logitech stick with twist grip rudder.
I love my X45 but I do miss the easy aiming of twist drip.
I am going to be getting pedals soon, from CH.
I have a freind that has that Logitech Freedom 2.4 stick and its really good value for money. Cordless, got plenty of buttons and all the bells and whistles so to speak.
Good support to.
Maybe I will get flamed a bit for this but I think that MS pulled out of the game controller market so I am not sure of what their support will be like in the future for the Sidewinder range of products. I might be wrong though.
Value for money and good overall performance and support go with a Logitech.

Hehehehe,

CH Pro Throttle

CH Pro Pedals

Logitech Freedom 2.4GHz wireless - I really like this stick but it "Goes to Sleep" on a long flight. I have a small hand and it fits perfectly. I can reach all the buttons easily. I picked up virtually the Same stick today called a Logitech Extreme 3D. It is corded with a 4-way base and 12 buttons vs the Freedom 2.4 which is a cordless Tri-base 10 button wireless.
I paid $34.95 in Game Stop.

www.provantage.com (http://www.provantage.com) is a great online store

I just checked and they have the X45 listed for $61.

I got my X45 at a local Fry's store. But I ordered my CH Pro pedals at provantage. I like them both http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

crazyivan1970, out of interest, how have you got the Nostromo set up? I have one but have yet to map keys for it in FB since I figure I have more than enough keyboard keys anyway!

Dare I ask but do you have trim on the Nostromo slider? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

the X45 can be bought online straight from Saitek if you want. Just go to their site and order it.

Myself I have had great luck with saitek, I bought a Cyborg 3D gold usb stick 3 years ago and it's still a great stick, though I put it away due to purchacing the new Cyborg Evo stick http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Now I just have a backup or a loner availiable.

Myself I didnt like the feel of the X45.
It's ok if your a person with small hands but if not it will cramp your hand a bit with its confind flight stick area.

Do you have in mind that knuckleguard thing on the front of the stick? That is one thing about it that annoys me a touch- a silly bit of overstyling.

When my MS Precision Pro went belly up I bought a Logitech Freedon 2.4 for $70.

After a short time, 2 weeks, it developed a lot of play. It also has a battery saving feature, that shuts down the joystick after a certain period of inactivity, the time gets shorter as the batteries weaken. On long flights in FB this can be a pain as it usually happens a the worst of times. To resync, you must press a button, moving the stick doesn't work. Keep plenty of batteries onhand, if you fly alot you could be changing batteries every two to three days.

After that experience, I bought a Saitek X45 USB HOTAS system for $80. So far I'm very pleased, the only gripe I have is the rudder rocker is awkward. Solved that by hooking up my TM RCS pedals, with NOT having to attach a joy stick to them.

While the Logitech is a good stick, it, IMHO, has some annoying drawbacks. So, I suggest you seriously consider the Saitek X45. Espically considering they are priced within $10 and the Saitek is a HOTAS system, while the Logitech is not.

whatever u ppl are gonna buy, dont buy cougar. it goes lousy after 3 months of playing, potentiometers makes peaks, gotta adjust center deadzone to 30% or over it = unplayable. if u want to make it last longer, u gotta invest douple to triple the prize of the cougar, when ordering mods to it. CH is the tool i use nowadays, havent yet betrayed me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (ps, had 2 cougars, rerturned back to shp i bought em and got my moneys back cos quality didnt be what the marketing/hype told it to be)
