At least 90% of the time I get one of these two messages when I try to post on , but only on my home machine with it's 56k connection, never at work on the broadband.

Just to clarify: I haven't been banned and the discussion does indeed exist.

So can someone tell me what the problem is here?

August

Been there, done that, got nowhere.

This has been happening for months now, like I said about 90% of the time. I still can get a post through now and then.

Happened to me for about 3 weeks.
PM the mods
Delete cookies.

I was IP banned (sounds like you are too) so I could post at work but not from home.

I wish I knew which cookie to delete. It's a pain having to delete them all. I also tried deleting the cookies that contained UBI in the title but that didn't work either.

As for PM'ing the mods. I had Hunter check the list and i'm not on it. It does work once and awhile though so dunno if it could be an IP ban.

It'd sure be nice if someone from UBI would actually take a look at this....

Sounds like they banned an IP range from an abuse user in your area.

When on dial-up, I think you have a new IP every time you log in. So this random IP sometimes falls in the range of the banned range.

You could disprove this theory by being able to post sometimes, but not others during the same connected internet session.

Not always (such is the case with the internet), as your IP can change during the same PPP session, it all depends on the hosts recyle rate for DHCP.

I have had the same problem, said I was banned from home (dial up) but ok from work (T1).

Thanks guys, Tully says he'll check the lists for me if I give him my ip address.

It certainly sounds from your descriptions that this is what's happening.

Nah, an admin has banned a server IP and not a client IP

ie if he banned my IP no one that use's Freeserve would be able to post http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif but if they banned my client IP only me would be banned.

Your client IP has been banned but because your 56k at home your IP floats and changes every time you connect, so somtimes you can post, some times you cant.
