Ok ! now its too late to chicken out.....

As u may or may not know, I always "babble" about "this" or "that" maneuver and its often a long story
because its hard to explain every aspect of even the simplest vertical maneuver. And I've promised I'd do a track or movie to explain better.

One of these maneuvers I call " upward spiral brake " and have debated it on the forum before and seen a few try it online with random succes. I got the idea from german ace Heinz Knokes spiral climb to evade enemies in his Bf 109
(so I didnt invent it just modified it a bit,)

Well I seem to have erased most of my tracks containing this "upward spiral brake" move but I have several raw AVI movies (many gigs) from one of my "online test" on (Greater green server) that I forgot to erase. ??? so I have to get rid of these but dont want to just throw them away.
I just got premiere and want to try to make a movie If anyone is interrested in hosting it, or know anyone who would. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

The " upward spiral brake" can be used when everything else fails and u have been dragging an enemy behind u ( to your airfield hoping flak and frendlies will down him). Now... I've only tried this with the 109 so I cant say it will work as good with other planes.

This is how its done:

The enemy is close behind. Cut throttle and and pull stick diagonally backvards and use rudder in same direction. Immediatlly after deploy full flap and gear (gear if u are landing afterwards) and the result is an inverted upvards spiraling braking movement and even if the bandit on your tail cuts his throttle he will likely overshoot.

ofcourse this is a high risk maneuver only to be used when everything else fails and there is 3 important factors to consider:

1. Initial speed cant be too high because the spiraling will begin too late to be effective.

2. The bandit must be fairly close behind u so he wont have time to aim succesfully at u.

3. Its wise to have practised to fly close to stalling speed and from there speed up as quickly as possible.

I was testing the 109's slow flying capabilities online and
the "spiral" was handy that day!( as many other times)

So the movie would contain a 109 in slow speed, dogfighting and downing a La5 in a prolonged slow dogfight
where "he" cant shake me off( for a change). His friends is buzzing around me overshooting( I think it was 1 la5 and 3 p39's ) and then escaping with them like angry bees behind. At the end there is only 1 La5 chasing and then loosing him with a spiral climbturn over my airfield and land safely with some holes in cockpit.( some help arrived during my escape ).

( obs this is not showing off !it was just an online test with some luck incorporated)

Comment: I just fell in love with this "maneuver" (its über /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ) and it can be used with many variations and is somewhat related to the barrel roll (my opinion).
