There's an awful lot of work in administrating a project like that, but it would be great for the community if you can get it to work. Good luck!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Excellent idea. It would be nice to sort out a room for this, i think you would need comm though.

Tully, if it's supported why not. Any way i'm just upgrade my computer to P4 3.2e and 1g of dd ram. So i can use my previous computer to do the hosting.

P4 1.6

Great Idea.

I'm about to take the swan dive into broadband so I'll probably try and fly in the unfriendly online skies. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I've been a flight sim junkie for decades (in the 40+ age band) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif but always offline. A training server would be great introduction for complete newbies and the more geriatric online newbies such as myself.

The propellor is there to keep the pilot cool. Switch it off and watch them sweat!

Ideal planes for tranning: Ju87, Hurricane, Rata and He111. Only 1 colour base available. Some baloon. TS of cause, and maybe some ground object.

Any idea guys?

Good idea for a server dedicated to training. Have once or twice come across people totally new to flight sims. Personally think the single seat IL2's would make a good machine to learn on. They are fairly stable and easy to fly. They also have all the facets that you need to learn, i.e flaps, pitch, radiator settings, landing gear, gunnery, even air to ground ordinance. Team Speak or some other communications would be essential though and that might take time to get organised.

IMHO, the biggest issue is letting novices know the service exists. I'd see as more use for offering tactical coaching for those who've been online for a bit and are beginning to get frustrated at having their butt handed to them all the time rather than the pure novice.

If you're really keen on catering to the pure novice, it would have to be up at Ubi. Not many complete newbies even know HL exists, much less fly there.

"A snake without the head won't move" lol, if you don't understand this means:-

They must have 'volunteer' experience people be there, insteat of waiting the new people join in, why not make it an request to certain people down here.

A dedicate server will be there, anyone can go in. If new people are lucky, they can get people to teach them. But what if they waited for half till one hour and yet no people there. Also doesn't make sence. There must be certain way to make it workable.

Lt.Davis, I didn't vote but sign me up. I've been playing FB for awhile now but I still need some good old fashioned training. I had some "real" instruction 30+ years ago, but my how you forget things. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif This 109 G2 I'm flying can be spooky.

You might even be surprised how may vet sim pilots will sign up.

HyperLobby or Ip to IP would even be great for training. As for UBI, nope, don't have it installed and not too crazy about it either.

And Tully, your right about "offering tactical coaching for those who've been online for a bit and are beginning to get frustrated at having their butt handed to them all the time rather than the pure novice". Alot of us would go for that also.

Even flying what we've been flying might save time instead of building new 3D Design trainers. it could save a bunch of time for ya Lt.

So LT. if nothing else you at least have one ready to go. I might add that a slot on TeamSpeak2 would be a good way for voice comms.

If you'd like to recruit more , stop over at the 1st link in my sig, bombs-away.net. Register, go into the European Forum and make a new post in the Stab/Jagdgeschwader 51 Forum. I'm sure you'll get some of our guys wanting some help. ~S!~

how about this idea ?

1vs1 training is very good process to improve basic tactical air combat to a new pilots , I learning a lot from this way when I join EAW. and that is very easy to do , everyone can do in HL , after you training your new friend and he's look ready for join DF server so you go with him and backup him all the way in DF server. then comback to 1vs1 room to review the lesson or tactic. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

team vs team private host training is ok same like squad training easy to manage but team vs team public host training requirement alot of management task , organize, rule and etc ..not easy job,

and what is objective (direction) for training , do you want to training a new friends for playing in DF server or training them for playing in VEF or VWF ?

S!

Ok, i need to find out more about what most people need to learn.

1. Totally noob (basic):- Learn how to taxi, take off, avoid stall and spin, landing. No gunnary prastice.

2. Mid noob:- Learn basic manuever like barrel roll, Break Turn, hammer head, Spiral Climb, high/low yoyo, formation flying etc.

3. Advance Noob class:- Gunnary, Level bombing and dive bomb.

Complete!

I stopped playing IL-2 for a year now, mainly due to the hours of frustration trying down a single fighter. Anyways, I moved on to more modern era sims, such as falcon 4.0, which focused more on missle weaponry than basic aerial gunnery. While these sims are great fun, they fail to satisfy that feeling after you shred a BF-109 to bits with simple bullets. So I'm back again (can't wait til Pacific Fighters), and this Public Training Server idea is splendid.

PS: I would say I'm a Mid-Advance Noob. Hope this idea does materialize!

Hayter,

It's glad to hear that you are coming back to prop sim. And i'm happy that a lot of people are positive in this matter. It's just need time to develop this idea. Will do it ASAP.

*PS: Just to clarify that i'm not going to teach advance flying. I'm also a noob. lol

Good idea. Getting sick being shot down all the time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif . But this will certainly take quite a deal of work (time, effort, money to some extend).

Great idea!

I used to host a server like this for Il 2 before the Forgotten Battles era, but had to quit due to real life issues. Also, hosting was somehow preventing playing in my case...

Anyway, I can't wait for the firstt lesson!

i'd be willing to share what i know. we're in hyperlobby; extremely rare to find any of us in ubi. all i ask is to have a working mic, teamspeak, and a willingness to learn. i'm on eastern time, work midnite turn. pm me on hl and we'll set 1 up

I think that this is a great idea. I have been playing Il2 for about 4 weeks now. Boy do I have a lot to learn. In fact it took me a week to learn why my plane veered to the right or left on taxiing and take off.

I think that a training server would be a great way to learn. I could use help with the following:

1. Basic flight maneuvers
2. landing
3. situational awareness (I can never find the enemy)
4. ways to engage the enemy
5. basic defensive maneuvers
6. how to boom and zoom
7. gunnery

If you guys who have been playing awhile were willing to help me here, I think that my enjoyment of the game would increase tremendously.

Thanks

What a fantastic idea! I had often hoped something like this could happen as I don't feel confident enough to fly online as part of a team. Inspired!!!

the most difficult plane to fly are the 109's in manual pitch. they'll get the most out of their engine that way, but until mastered, expect to blow many engines. 1 of the easiest would be the hurricane's...speed shouldnt be the most important thing off the bat; it's a dual edged sword. too much speed is just as bad as too little

Hi,

'tis a good idea. As HansKnappstick said, we used to have a sort of 'training squadron' and it worked quite well. I've also been known to 'take people up' who are new to flying online in some rough attempt to give them some pointers on how to stay alive!

Cheers,
Norris
