Since X 45 profiles are being discussed here's my problem.... I recently attempted to install the X 45 software in order to set my profile up but I received a vague error message. Despite this, the software apeared istalled and there was a software folder under C:/Program Files/Saitek.

Alarmed by the error message I tried to uninstall in order to re-install it properly using the updated version of the software that I downloaded from the Saitek website.

Despite all my efforts, controller software would not un-install. I tried going through add/remove programs and manual folder deletion but my computer still believes that the software is installed and all attempts to re-install it fail with another vague error message.
I tried cleaning the registy as well without any success.
I use Win 2000 professional

If running XP why not do a system restore?

I've heard of the handy system restore feature in XP, but unfortunately I run Win 2000

I dont have an X 45 but I was thinking maybe when you uninstalled it, did you unplug the stick and everything from the CPU?

I tried doing that to one of my sticks one day too and it didnt fully uninstall until I unplugged it from the USB ports.

Just a thought. I could be WAAAY wrong.

Goto: Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and look for the "SST Programming Software" - remove that.

Start Regeditor (Start - Run - type "regedit" and press ok) - then look for any "Saitek" key in the registry IF and only IF this is the only saitek software you use...

You could also check under Control Panel - Game Devices if the stick/software is realy deleted.

ON A NEW INSTALL NEVER PLUG IN the saitek untill the program says you to do so !!!
