View Full Version : OT: Sunderland Flying Boat Located

Hi Guys,

Thought this might be of interest.

Reading the UK Times newspaper today and they had this article suggesting the location of a Sunderland flying boat on the bed of Lake Windermere in northern England.

I live fairly close to the area and there have been many rumours of surplus airframes being scuttled at the end of the war.

Although this article does not show it there was an excellnt side scan sonar picture clearly showing a Sunderland, minus engines and nose turret with the wing sponsons lying to the side of the wings.
