How are we making assumptions on a perfect mode when we have no idea what the engine will be, what the graphics options are, and what levels it will be customizable to? There may be no Good, Excellent, Perfect mode.

I'll betcha it'll be OpenGL however...I suspect that they will be staying away from the Microsoft API and OpenGL is just as capable.

The point I was trying to make was which method would run BOB's highest settings best. I'm thinking of buying a new video card. I would prefer to buy the X800XT but the benchmarks indicate that the 6800Ultra runs FB faster than the X800XT in OpenGL mode. Oleg indicated that FB looked better using OpenGL and wondered which method he was optimizing BOB for http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Just read in the RAGE3d forums that ATI is in the process of rewriting their OpenGL drivers, but no word when they will see the light of day.

I think, at the release date of BoB (end of 2005? may be 2006?) a lot of today high tech hardware will be outdated already http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
