I was wondering what new features everyone would like to have implemented in Revelation.

I'll start...

I'd like to have a "print mode" available somewhere within the game which would allow me to print the books/journals I run into.

It's tiring, sometimes, reading many pages on the screen. And depending on the font, that is not easy on the eyes either. I'd like to be able to print out what's in the journals to have that information available at all times on my desk while I play the game.

Ah, if I wanted any feature, it'd be the ability to take those books/journals with us so we don't have to either write the info down outside the game, take screenshots and print them later, or remember where those books/journals were so we can read them again later. Since there will be no inventory system, I'd settle for an automatic log of book/journal info.

Of course, that supposes that there would be a need for it. Perhaps they'll have something else that helps out in this regard.

They're doing a user journal in Path of the Shell. Maybe they'll do the same in Revelation (although the 2 games are so different, I wouldn't count on any features being transferred across).

Let me guess... Catherine's journal in Riven!??! Someone needs to teach that girl some handwriting skillz.

Catherine's was especially bad, seeing how long her's was. But all those journal features seem like they will be present in M4.

Me personally, I would have LOVED to have that awesome zoom-blend transition that the screen saver had between locations. From the ingame footage from e3, it will the exile type of transition, rather than what the screen saver had. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Oooooh, one thing that I learned at E3 that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet: the player journal is going to be in HTML, so you can view it out of game, print it, or upload it to your website!!!!!!!

Cool, huh?

As for the in-game journals, in Uru and replaying the older games, I've made a lot of use of transcripts of them that turn up on fansites -- get to work, Wolfie! * cracks whip *

JFT: on transitions: no, not exile-type at all. Looks exactly as if you were moving through a full-3D world. In other words, you experience transitions as movement, not as transitions.

Nice to meet you too, Pat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Hope you guys had fun over the weekend.

I take the position that nothing that would be in the manual is a spoiler, but if anybody wants to argue about that, bring it on! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Um -- I mean -- if anybody disagrees, I'll move it! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

?!?!?

Does that mean that the transitions are animated?!?! From the little gameplay video that I saw filmed at e3 the transitions were exactly the same as all previous myst titles, i.e. crossfades from one location to the next.

Was the demo that was being displayed at e3 not representative of what the final version will be with respect to the transitions?

Ps. Yeah Sri - I reckon this might be a spoiler. I get what you mean about the manual, and I suppose that we would have found out eventually anyway, but i certainly wasn't expecting to read here that there would be animated transitions between each node http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

If the transitions are going to be animated, will there finally be a reliable way to move quickly to a far away node? It would just suck having to go through tons of animations to get from the clue to the puzzle.

Different does not mean better or worse. It just means NOT THE SAME.
