A noob question.

I see people speaking of looking in their mirror or a mirror view. There is also a keyboard bind for a mirror.

However, nothing seems to happen when I press the button.

What is this mirror and how do I use it?

Thanks

Not all planes have mirrors, try a spitfire or a hurri. Try pressing the mirror button when in one of those planes and you will hopefully see the mirror.

IMHO mirrors are not very usefull - most aren't centered right and show complete false info (try taking off from a concrete runway - you'll see grass in the mirror http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif). Not only that but they realy kill fps http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I agree mirrors are pretty useless, the only somewhat effective ones are the spitfire and hurricane. The p38 one looks like it would be ok if they didnt have the front of the mirror blocking thie view

Mirrors are pretty usefull when flying the spit. Atleast for me, I have had plenty of 109 trying to creep up on me from behind, and that mirror have saved my bacon a few times. But the mirror on the spit is perhaps the best one if you ask me. In other planes its not as usefull. And it does kill the framerate like lil_labbit says - i get atleast a 5-10 fps drop when using them.

Use the Shift-F1 view to center the view, press your mirror button a second time to increase the LOD in the mirror, restoring the tarmac to view and disable S3TC compression if you're losing alot of frames with mirrors enabled.

Here endeth the lesson.

Most interesting, I found mirrors to be a life~saver in the old DOS Flaker 1.0 jet sim. FPS hits were minimal on old AMD 100MHz DX4 processor with VLB card lol.

With a 133MHz Pentium upgrade, any mirror fps hits were totally gone with the fast Pentium math processor. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
