Or a Corsair? Naval aviation, particularly carrier landings and T/O's, presents a whole new challenge that could be very well executed in the FB FM, whilst providing untold hours of new flying challenges. Heck I'd wouldn't even mind trying to make it through the flak to be a successful kamikaze.

Anyone else who'd like to see a PTO from 1C?

I would love to jump into a Hellcat (my fav overall plane of WWII), and if Oleg et all decide to do a PTO down the road then that would be just fine with me! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I would just like to see one company make a sim that engulfed the whole war, not just areas.

But i know how it is i miss carriers as well, somewhere in these posts a guy made one out of land and objects. Not a carrier but the closest thing we have at the moment. If you can't find it you can try to make your own out of the objects list in the mission builder.

May you not become a dirt torpedo.

No, you are not alone. I keep dreaming about flying the Wildcat and Hellcat. Leading a group of SBDs in heavy flak, or racing at 50 ft with a TBF Avenger. But seems to me we`ll have to wait. quite long, if you ask me...

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king."

me too I miss the cats. But over Europe I think they would be dead meat against the german or soviet ones. They were good against zeroes because they could outdive and outclimb them. I don't think 4 FW vs 4 F6 is a fair match , especially in Europe where their engines suffered , as noted by the mechanics.

I have always been amazed by the wildcat and the hellcat. I never understood how someone could design such an ugly pair.

Because for Grumman, aesthetic wasn't a priority but sturdyness was. Personnaly, I don't find the Hellcat so ugly./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I find the Hellcat to be a beaut! And looks don't account for anything, it's record as a reliable kick *** plane speaks for itself!

Don't need the PTO to fly those - you can fly FAA
in the North Sea and MTO to fly the Avenger, F4F, F6F,
F4U.

(FAA is the Fleet Air Arm - a branch of the Royal Navy -
who I believe first used the F4U from a carrier)

No, you're not alone, I'd love to fly the wildcat. But even though someone's making it, we should wait.

Actually, if you read a little deeper into the history books, and you may already know this, all the Grummans fought against the Axis at one point and from what I have read, did quite well in their limited numbers. The Wildcat during the invasion of Africa, in the Atlantic, and the Hellcat during the invasion of Southern France, and the Avenger was successful wherever it was used. Even the Corsair was used, providing escort during the raids on the Tirpitz. Given some of the current a/c in use and being developed for FB, these planes are not out of line to be flown in this sim.
