Have you ever done any 3D modeling? If not, there isnt much chance of you doing the model im afraid. Its not easy and takes alot of practice before you become familiar with all the required features. Even longer to be anywhere near good enough using them to create a model good enough for FB.

3D Studio Max is the program required to do the model, plus something like photoshop to do the skins.

If you want to get started in 3d, you can download free cut down versions of 3d software like Gmax, Softimage XSI|EXP, and Maya PLE. (google these).

If you want tutorials and help try:
www.3dcafe.com (http://www.3dcafe.com)
www.digitalrendering.com (http://www.digitalrendering.com)
www.3dbuzz.com/ (http://www.3dbuzz.com/)
www.3dluvr.com (http://www.3dluvr.com)
and many many others.
I don't think there is a tutorial specific to IL-2, but there are general low-poly game modelling tutorials out there.

Or, you could just get AC3D.

It's only $50 for a full license, and is remarkably easy to use. Once you do texturing with it, you'll run screaming from Max.

www.ac3d.org (http://www.ac3d.org) is the address.
