i tried the new 61. nvidia drivers they ran horable in fb i went back to the 56. drivers.

the 61. driver performed horably in haze maps and generally had lower fps

aa off and af off vertical sync on.

So im a little nervous of how directx 9c is going to effect the game.

I've installed 9.0c and it seems fine, I couldn't notice a difference.

I've had a scout about to try and find out what is different in this newer version, it seems the main point of 9.0c is for Shader 3.0 support on the newer graphics cards.

So it might do sweet things for those folks with shiny new Nvidia cards.

I DO have a shiny new Nvidia card and am running the new 61.76 drivers for it. I haven't had any low fps issues even with weather and haze. When I'm in-game I haven't had any issues at all, but there have been a few times where I've joined a server and had my new box lock up when I hit the "fly" button. I switched from the bundled MSI drivers to the WHQL drivers last week and things seem to run a bit better (it's not bad now mind you), but I'm hoping for the best when the 62.20's are "official".

As for DX 9.0c, I couldn't say yet as I don't have it.

Redistributable version of Dx 9.0c

nVidia reference drivers 61.76 are on my machine (850E and FX5900), by far the best ever.
Image Quality has improved and allow spotting roundels clearly at 500m. (NO flickering)
Antialiasing is superb.
Framerates - slightly up.

I don't think you will notice a difference in IL2 since it is OpenGL based. In other games like unreal tournament or MSFS4k you might see a difference if your card uses 9.0c features or if 9,0c uses more efficient algorithms.

Any exact numbers or benchmarks out there?

I have a FX5200 also. Been using the 61.76 drivers for a few days. I helped it out with Rivatuner and I am getting the same fps and quality as I was with the omega 45's. I am not an authority on anything but my system 'seems' a bit more stable. Then again, I ran those Omega's for a long time and only had one CTD and one reboot all together because of the drivers. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Its all how you feel, if you like them you keep them, if not they're trashed for your old ones.

Is there a difference between the one for download which is for software devolopers and the one for regular PC's? Cause the one for PC's isn't out yet.

I can not answer your question directly ... re-read that linked M/S D/L page.
As far as I can tell ... this new version is licenced for re-distribution with software - ie for end users (me and you), and is not (just) for developers writing new software.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>
This download provides the DirectX 9.0c end-user multi-languaged redistributable that developers can include with their product. The redistributable license agreement covers the terms under which developers may use the Redistributable. For full details please review the DirectX SDK EULA.txt and DirectX Redist.txt files located in the license directory

For those with ASUS cards the new 61 series drivers have a bug in them if you Over Clock your card. It greatly de-grades performance due to something with Asus 2D clock speeds.

See you in the fence....

No need to wait. This is the same version you'll get with SP2. There is now an end-user runtime w/web installer.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a9b6820-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&displaylang=en

For DX games, there does seem to be some improvement ~ 3-4 fps. Even FB in DX mode runs very good. Almost the same as OGL now.

Oh, BTW, I read that ATI is doing a new OpenGL version to enhance performance for Doom3. Should be out in the next several weeks. Hopefully, it'll be good for FB as well. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I gained 3-5 fps with the new drivers on my FX 5200,but I'm also still running Win98SE and that may be the key!

You can run but...You'll only die out of breath.

I'm with Weather_man on this. Some small increase in Direct 3D games. Just tested Call of Duty,UT 2004, and Morrowind, 2 to 3 in all.

FB/AEP no change at all that I can detect in OGL which is to be expected. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. As for playing it in DX, I'll stick with my 1st choice for now thank you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It fixed a sound problem I had in like 3 games (not FB). Some sounds used to be really quiet but now everything is perfect. I reccomend this.
