Was the Avro Lancaster (British Bomber)named after the British aviator Cpt. Bill Lancaster?

He used to fly an Avro Avian Mk.V Southern Cross to break flying records in the 1930's.

No, I believe it was named after the enlgish town Lancaster. It was the norm in them days to name bomber models after towns:

Manchester, Halifax, Hampden, Bristol, and so on.

Bristol was an A/c manufacturer. Only cars now.
