I was just reading the rearming thread, and was wondering how hard would it be to get a canopy that slides back when you go to rearm. it would add a little realisim.

P~51 slide back, Fb109 swing out, Fb110 open door. Too many possibilities to waste time on.

Let me "rephrase" that... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

For sliding canopies, we should be able to open them in flight if we want, and open all types of canopy for bailing too. Now that would be cool. Or take the canopies off like Soviet pilots did....with a loss of performance of course. Yes, yes, this would be worth the time to program.

In the movies you always see USA Pacific pilots flying their Navy planes with open canopies. Was this hysterically correct?

There are more important things to code and fix

Most planes had their canopy slid back on landing or take-off, as it qwould be easier for the pilot to jumkp out if something would happen, in combat they were always closed though, they were also closed on the eastern front because of the weather situation.

the possibility to open canopy? it's rather useless, i think there are more important things that should be issued...

I for one think eye candy is nice and to model it in is not that hard. Although, it would take time I think that all of these aspects are going into the BoB so hang in there fellas the open canpopy take offs and landing are around the corner my hope is that he writes in the capabilities of carries for future expansion of the BoB game. Put it all in now even if it is huge majority of us are running to rebuild are computers why not make it a complete SIMULATION.

Those guys sweated a lot in the Pacific and there were no showers... hence, they prevented intoxication. That's why German pilots were 'verboten' to eat choucrut before flying.

Galland flew Naked in Spanish Civil WAR, and with the shorts used by Brits and Germans in Africa, I can understand the developers not wanting hairy pink legs in the cockpit--a real immersion killer. Flanker/LOMAC all have pilot legs, of course the pilot always wears green gee suit panties so...no immersion issue there. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well as long as we are going to get planes that can be re-armed (I just hit the re-fly button to re-arm now), and get re-fueled (same way as re-arming for me). And now sliding canopies (is this beginning to sound a little like CF$2, or is it just me). Well if we are putting in suggestions... How about a biffy that can be flushed in the bombers. You could dump the biffy, overboard, onto the attacking fighters. Maybe the sh*t from the biffy might hit the canopy and blind the pilot who is flying around with his canopy open.
