but I managed to land the Komet on it's tail! I hit the ground short of the runway, the nose dug in and I looped over and this is the result. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Don't suppose it'll ever happen again!
Cheers!

Hmmm...the first Sabredance!

F-100 SuperSabres used to pull this trick on the uninitiated who pulled a little too hard on the stick: it became known as the Sabredance.

cheers

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Dunk do you mean a vertical landing, like Buck Rogers?

Were you actually flying along the ground like that? That'd be pretty sweet. It's like what the Su-27 (modern fighter jet) can do. It can pull back to about 110 degrees and keep going forward. There's a video of somebody doing a landing in Falcon 4 by diving at the end of the runway, pulling back to bleed speed and then flattening out to land. It was very impressive. Not sure where to find the video though.

You should try to apply full power from that position... perhaps you'll take off like a V-1. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

And that's one nice skin btw. Whose is it?

Yeah, they call it 'Pugachev's Cobra' after the guy who first did it in public, and the attitude looking like a cobra snake in attack position. Impressive. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
