Hey guys I just wanted to compile a list of details RedLynx has divulged about the future of Trials. If you'd like to add to the list please provide a source link and not just "didn't someone say?" type statements.
Also please refrain from posting hopeful suggestions - there is plenty of other threads to deal with those types of posts

-Controlls

There is a small group of developers (me included) that would love to have RB as front brake and LB as rear brake. However majority of developers/testers/players think it complicates the controls too much.(source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=24985&sid=53e1d95a121d974a7c38745e7df1b3a7))

-Physics

- Environment

We have made outdoor Trials games in the past (Trials Mountain Heights for example) and I am pretty sure we will see outdoor games in the future as well" and "If we go back to outdoor in the future, we will do it with style. (souce (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2740&p=24880&hilit=editor#p24880))

I would personally like to see some outdoor action in a future Trials game. We have now made two indoor trials games in a row. (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4170&p=44378&hilit=outdoor#p44378))

- Multiplayer
Here's some good reading that suggests RedLynx has multiplayer on their minds (1 (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5272&hilit=multiplayer&start=30), 2 (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5126&p=64446&hilit=multiplayer#p64446), 3 (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2113&p=20125&hilit=multiplayer#p20125))

Some sort of multiplayer would also be nice to have in future games. (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2826&p=25411&hilit=multiplayer#p25411))

But I have become really consistent lately, so if we have real time multiplayer in the sequel, then you will have some real competition (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2981&p=27525&hilit=multiplayer#p27525))
(note - sebbbi refers to the future trails game as "the sequel" possibly a sign that "Trials HD 2" is next as apposed to trials 3)

- Ghosts
Sebbbi on Ghosts in Trials (1 (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3782&p=38195&hilit=multiplayer#p38195), 2 (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2826&p=25411&hilit=multiplayer#p25411))

Ghost racing and replay compare have always been in top of my feature request list. In my suggested replay compare system you could select any two gamertags in the leaderboards to see their replays simultaneously (or alternatively select up to four gamertags to see them all at the same time). Rider gamertags should float on the top of the player bikes. It would be really interesting to see where all the top players gain their fractions of seconds, and were they lose them compared to the other top players. This feature would also be perfect for making youtube "X vs Y" videos.

- Level Sharing

It's too early to say anything about the sequel as we just finished doing the Big Pack. However better user created content creation and distribution ranks highly on my personal want list at least. (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=24985&sid=53e1d95a121d974a7c38745e7df1b3a7))

"In our future games we are much more experienced with the platform and you should expect to see multiplayer features and much improved global content sharing features. And after Trials HD success we naturally also have more economical possibilities to do everything we want." (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2113&p=20125&hilit=multiplayer#p20125))

Our views on how to develop the Trials-series further is much in line with the ideas seen in this thread. The editor and level sharing aspects are key features in the future as well (even more so than currently). (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1748&p=33172&hilit=editor#p33172))

Global open user created content sharing with as good level creation and searching tools as possible is something that everyone here at the forums want to have in the long run (including myself). I personally see user content sharing as a more important feature than online game play (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5126&p=64446&hilit=multiplayer#p64446))

- Editor

If I can just say one thing in Trials HD track creation I don't like, that must be the room creation system. The simple room system in Trials HD makes tracks look often too monotonous (same textures repeating over and over, only 90 degree walls, etc). Players are often removing all the room blocks or building some objects in front of the walls to hide them. I really doubt the current room system will be used in any future games. (source (http://www.redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1748&p=55229&hilit=editor+room#p55229))

- Out Of The Pit
Sebbbi posted "out of the pit" in the toughest track in trials history thread (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5313)) - Since there is no track named "out of the pit" in trials history we should assume that this is a new track presumably harder than YSNP and any other redlynx tracks before. Arguably, this could be a track from another as of yet announced Trials HD DLC, however there is reason to believe Trials HD will not get any more DLC. (source (http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=4590&p=52158&hilit=memory+used+big+thrills#p52158))

Good thread. Here's something I remember:

 There's a track in Trials Construction Yard called The Pit. hmmm

That is where my mind went too http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Another Trials Construction Yard game would be great!

However "out of the pit" is not an obvious enough title to say it's a sequel for sure.

Either way I'm overjoyed at the thought of having a YSNP killer in the next game!

Awesome compilation murdoc!! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Not sure if this was mentioned but...

- I wanna suggest to the devs, that user created content would need have the other users replays, leaderboards arenīt necesary imo..... only the replays would be awesome... leaderboards would be great but maybe is really hard or not possible..... but the replay, I think that is necesary because this would be in my opinion, more motivation to play them.....

Hope you devs have thoughts about that..... http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Sorry for my bad english.... http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif

Now this is a thread. Good work Murdoc. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I was going to post Sebbbi's "Out of the Pit" comment on here last night when the thread first went up but my power went out for a short period of time. The outdoor trials theme would be awesome. Simply, just all the possible ideas from all the great editors we have here. I can only imagine what some of the custom tracks would be like.

Another thing i think I've realized is...Do not tell Sebbbi any secrets. Thanks again Murdoc for bringing this to my attention.

My posts in suggestion threads were/are mostly general brainstorming for future game ideas, future technology we develop and for the Trials series in a long run. Please do not assume that all the ideas discussed are included in a single game.

I can confirm only one thing, there will be many interesting RedLynx games released in the years to come http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

apologies, these (as sebbbi himself just explained) are not confirmed details but i thought they may be of interest; source (http://redlynxgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=24985&sid=53e1d95a121d974a7c38745e7df1b3a7)

if this sort of stuff isnt what we're looking for here murdoc, please just say and ill remove it, save cluttering a useful thread.

Found something about skill games...

Sebbbi wrote "In the future I think that we should have separate (selectable) scoring method, and separable (multiselectable) end conditions. And lots of possibilities for both. So players could make their custom skill games. Oh, and "time alive" should also be one of the possible scoring methods (if you want to make skill games such as "stay on the rodeo horse"). This kind of skill game system would also allow us to make new skill games in the DLC packs. In Trials HD we just have the predetermined set of 12 skill game modes." (source (http://www.redlynxgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1748&p=25050&hilit=custom+skill#p25050))

I know none of this is definite but I'd kill to have these features. So many times have my skill game ideas been scrapped because of the limitations in the editor.

...Had an idea once for a bailout game that throws you onto a "dart board" of empty boxes. In the boxes would be triggers that break different amounts of the in-game targets, giving you an actual score. My plans were ruined when I found out that targets don't count after you bail out. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

...Skill games that track how long you stay alive would be sweet. Like the ones Murdoc made. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
