Hey Oleg,

Been lookin' at the shots of the Pacific expansion.

You gotta open up those canopies on deck, takeoff and landing.

A/C that risked going in the drink had to have the canopy open because they frequently jammed on any kind of hard knock.

The result would be a freindly KIA, because no one could help the pilot escape.

The canopies don't have to be sliding, BTW, just two position, open or closed.

My two cents,

Ivanmoe

My two cents...

You go down and buy PF. You go home, install it then load up a mission on a carrier deck. Things go wrong and you end up in the drink. You hit CRT-E and your canopy pops. You dive into the water and restart the mission for another attempt.

Ah, the wonders of computer games.

If the developers want to sim A/C ops in a flight deck environment, then the canopy must be opened in certain configs, takeoff and landing.

To the best of my knowledge, none of the A/C that will be included in the game had explosive bolts to free the canopy, so the erstwhile pilot will die if he goes in with the canopy closed.

Don't mean to rankle, that's just the way that it was. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree with Ivanmoe. If CFS2 could do this than why shouldn't PF?

Okay I've looked at the new screenies and the canopies on ALL the aircraft are still closed. Again, the canopies don't have to be animated as in CFS2, but if PF is to SIMULATE a carrier T/O or landing, it bloody well needs to have those canopies open.

There's still a long way to go and plenty of time before it gets released. Maybe they're still concentrating on the flight modellings of each a/c at this point of development. Patience, young squids.

From what I understand from Luthier, the canopies will be animated. Opened and closed. Nothing to worry about.

In any case, wait until the final release to make judgements. Perhaps the features aren't implemented yet, but I do believe they will be there.

Being that I access this forum from the IL2FB homepage "Forums" link, I didn't know that there was a PF forum!

Please do move it, oh mighty mods!
