I was wondering about the very old trials, trials 2nd and this Trials HD and thought all track are all indoor apart from maybe one or two in the very early trials!

I know we dont know all the tracks in Trials HD and I'm presuming that they are all indoor wherehouse type inviroments?!

Did you think about creating outdoor levels...ie just a drop screen type thing to add a different perspective to the game? I can imagine that it might be difficult with lighting etc but just an idea!

That bring me onto the level editor bit and the 'backdrop' for the want of a better word. Would it be possible in future updates to add a selection of different backdrops? Or even new tracks with new scenes?

Some change in the game would be awesome, not that it isn't truely awesome already! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif.

I thought long and hard about purchasing an XBox 360 just for 1 game... and came to the conclusion that Trials is worth it!!! plus i'll get a new DVD player out of it too http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif!

Glad to hear it slossage! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I think in our maybe biased opinions it is worth it all in all, even more so that the time is approching! Bonus to the dvd player too! I stream films from my pc to my xbox over network, so there is that benifit too http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
You can even pick up a hd-dvd drive for like 30, but not many films...lol shame!

Yes, we actually thought about different environments. But the work required to create a couple more completely new environment types proved to be a little too much for the time scale of the project. So we settled to do the warehouse and the warehouse object set with high quality/variation for this game instead of doing multiple sets with less variation and less quality. The warehouse background set has 4 differerent layers based on height (low cellar, high cellar, ground level, roof level) and we have a good selection of wall and background decoration objects you can place around to improve the level outlook and variation.

Trials HD is our first Xbox 360 game. A lot of project time was used in studying the platform and determining what it was capable of and how we could get best performance out of it. Any future Xbox 360 projects we do can/will use the already built technology for the platform. This frees up a lot of time and allows us to focus more on new game content and game modes instead of technology. Naturally we will improve the technology all the time, but creating something completely new takes much more time than improving and finetuning something already there.

Is there a difference to perfomance attainable from arcade games to disc games then? Apart from the size! Can you tap all power availible from the xbox360 with an arcade game like the disc games do/can?

Arcade games are full Xbox 360 games, and use exactly the same development tools and resources as disc games. The only difference is that DVD allows more storage space compared to online downloadable package (but hard drive allows us slightly faster loading times compared to disc). Microsoft has increased the size limit of live arcade games every year. I think it's likely we see full sized games sold online some time in the future also (like in Steam service) and all the size limits being lifted at that point. Players are already downloading one 1000 megabyte game demos and movies from xbox live.

Hopefully one day they will let us buy cheaper and bigger HDD to put on our consoles. Because I'm not paying over 100 euro for a 120GB HDD!

Some players have modified normal PC serial ATA hard drives to work on Xbox 360. All you need is an special adapter made for this purpose and some soldering skills http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
