I made a full feature chart of the different 3 graphics modes in v1.08. The chart can be seen here:

http://www.redlynxtrials.com/GraphicsModeDifferences.action

It will be added to the game FAQ once v1.08 open beta is finished and the patch is finally released to everybody.

I did some benchmarking on my home computer:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz
Graphics: Radeon 3850 256MB
OS: Vista 64bit
Screen resolution: 1680x1050

Normal mode (all effects on including HQ ambient): 44 fps
Normal mode (all effects off): 121 fps
Low mode (all effects on): 530 fps
Low mode (all effects off): 561 fps
Very Low mode (all effects on): 993 fps
Very Low mode (all effects off): 1101 fps

On low end computers, the performance difference between low mode and very low mode is much higher. Very low mode can be up to 4x faster. On my high end computer it was only around 2x faster.

v1.07 -> v1.08 performance comparison. Using fraps to calculate fps. Same computer as above.

High mode with everything maxed out: 39 fps -> 46 fps (+17%)
High mode with no extra effects: 124 -> 125 fps (+1%)
Low mode: 455 fps -> 503/533 fps (+11% / +17%)

Highest possible fps: 455 fps -> 1101 fps (+142%) - old low mode vs new very low mode

v1.08 has two low mode scores as there are graphics mode settings now also in low mode (you can disable particles and HUD to get a fps boost). 533 fps score with with both disabled. The scores in this comparison are slightly different than in last post, because fraps itself reduces some performance (the higher fps, the bigger reduction). Both versions were benchmarked with fraps to get the most fair result.

On Jorma's work computer with few years old Geforce 7900 GS.

High mode: 31 fps
Low mode: 209 fps
Very low mode: 746 fps

Very low mode fps is 4.6x compared to low mode. Pretty good improvement, and allows many new players to play Trials 2 that had so low end graphics cards that the low mode didn't run properly.
