in flew some long distance VOW missions,
at it seems that the Fw190A-8 & Fw190F-8 have different fuel capacities ?!

right ??

souldnt they have the same ???

both the standart 523l plus the additionel 115l tank ?

so far it looks like that only the F-8 has this 638l.

Also is it just me or does the fuel gauge in the F-8 display differently? If you take 75% fuel in the F-8 then the fuel guage shows 100%?

Maybe this is how it worked IRL, or maybe the fuel guage doesn't display properly due to the "extra" fuel compared to other 90 variants?

Lots of ?? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I made complete test of climbing data for FB1.0. I realized during tests that FW190A8 and Lagg3S66 have a HUGE fuel consumption. Anyway, with FB the fuel consumption is much more realistic.

the fuel gauges dont show % ! they show Litres !

the max litres they show is 400l - so , it take a while till the indicator is moving till the fuel above 400l is used - the F-8 looks like it have 638 litres !

and 75% of 638l are still above 400l ->478,5l

A4/5 and perhpas A8 have 523l.

According to Oleg: multiple fuel tanks are not modelled in IL2/FB.

The fuel gauges are historically correct, but are designed to work with multiple fuel tanks.

If the F8 has a smaller fuel tank, that could explain why is is more manueverable than the A8.

but it looks like that the F8 has a bigger one than the A8

Now that makes more sense!
I'm so used in flight to saying "I have 25% fuel time to RTB" - I totally forgot it was litres /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

In the 2 fuselage tanks, under the pilot, all the BMW 801 engined Fw190s carried the same amount of fuel, 410kg (or 233 L + 292 L).

There was also a 'low fuel' warning light, to say when to switch tanks. The light is to the left of the fuel tank selector switch on the right side of the lower instrument panel.

A 'clean' A-8 had an endurance of (with 500kg of fuel > 3 tanks):

1.2 hrs (2300rpm, 1.20 ata, @0.3km - avg speed = 515kph)
2.1 hrs (2000rpm, 1.05ata, @ 0.3km - avg speed = 440kph)

1.32 hrs (2300rpm, 1.20 ata, @5.0km - avg speed = 575kph)
2.02 hrs (2000rpm, 1.05 ata, @5.0km - avg speed = 5105kph)
