Hi all,

Decided to poke around in QMB last night and came across this J8A, 1937. Took it up and found out that it's a Bi-plane (w/ Canopy).

Wow .. this thing can turn on a dime. Great manueverability !!! It could outturn even that pesky I-153.

Is this the Gloster Gladiator? I heard it's in the expansion pak, but never saw it by this name http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

dont know much about the plane! how it was against the the standard Gladiator. The one thin that can be said is that it was sucesful in combat. The swedes shoot down 12 enemy (Russian) planes and losing 6 planes which where fighters and Bomber and Reconance planes.

Hmm.. no offense ment, but:

The Swedes: the people from Sweden
The swedes: the vegetables (cabbage-like)

Cheers,

Well the J8A that we have in the game (not a J8) is performancewise the same as the MK II. The only difference is that most MK II:s were fitted with a 3 bladed metal propeller. The J8A was fitted with a 2 bladed Wooden propeller, I don't know why, but the pilots preferred this one. Otherwise it was the same engine, (840 hp) and the same armomrment.

Another difference is that the instrumenpanel is more similar to the MK I than the MK II but with a mix of Swedish, German and English gauges, rather than just English http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I got in a dogfight on-line the other night with gladiators & that was the most fun i've ever had getting shot down. after this huge swinging duel, my plane was trashed but I managed to land near a river & had to resist standing on my chair afterword & shaking my fist at my oponent as he flew over & hollering "You magNIFICENT SWINE!!!" It was that immersive.

I'm gonna be using this alot, I think...and I hope dogfight servers start hosting biplane only games.

Also, the thing practically flys itself. I was able to type while taking off.

The J8A is as good as the Gladiator Mk2.

The cockpit is a modified version of the Mk1, but the engine is the same as in the Mk2: Bristol Mercury VIII with 840 hp.

The Mk1 had just a 645 hp Bristol Mercury VI.
