Serious, i am refering to the red anti fouling bottoms of the ships shown in PF previeuws.
I am a Maritime artist and i can asure you that only when a ship is ashore (Dry) and painted this colour will actualy look red as soon as the paint touches water it looks dark brown and because of the bottom sloping inward away from the sun that will be broken by the water anyway (only Bright yellow will show its color even on deep surface)so in the end especialy with these gigantic Cariers the color will be Black-Green Black-Blue depending on the water colour!

Only scale models feauture these bright red bottoms because they look good!
Kees.

Most warships have a broad BLACK boot topping above the red anti-foul paint. I can seldom recall seing a warship (USN at any rate) light enough to expose the red antifoul, except in drydock. Auxillieries and Merchant ships are a different matter, and I have seen various shades of red exposed above the waterline, ranging from a deepish rust red to a faded, almost orange-red on a lightly loaded container ship hauling EMPTY Conex boxes back from Asia.

So, what's your point Spoonfish? Would you prefer the developers just leave it as is? Your post leaves me with the impression that only those errors that are glaring in YOUR EYES are worthy of attention.

Really, there are more pressing color issues. Lexington, as depicted in the teasers, is in a pre-May '42 configurtion with the 8 inch gunhouses still in place. her paint scheme, if she is post Oct '41 should be measure 1/ms 5,Dark gray to the funnel top, light gray above, and false bow wave. The deck should be stained dark blue (Norfolk deck blue stain #20). And in no way should Hellcats and Corsairs be operating from her.

Then again, it's still pre-release, maybe we'll see historical colors and configurations for the ships, or at least have the ability to use custom skins.

Here's hoping for an Independence class CVL...

It's Yamato alright. However, it is no ordinary battleship Yamato, is is the space battleship Yamato. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

In case anyone is intrested, it's from an old anime show (made in the grooving 70's) called Uchuu Senkan Yamato... that is, Space Battleship Yamato. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The show goes by the name Starblazers in the yankeeland as far as I know.

Star Blazers, actually. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I am a major Otaku, which in the states does not have the negative connotation it does in Japan.

There are subtle differences, cultural things mostly - nudity removed, death minimized, sushi and saki becoming cake and water or milk, etc, but the story remained the same. And my god, what an awesome story it is. (oh yeah, It's the Argo as far as I'm concerned but that would have required too much explanation. lol)

I really wish the Bolar Wars series had been done by the same producers/writers/voice cast. For that matter, I also wish 3, and 4 (New Voyage and Be Forever) were done in the same manner. Instead, it was too soon in a way. The 3rd season was done by different writers, and the Speed Racer voice cast (gack! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif )

SDF, right? If it's what I think it is, I don't recall what them being seperate, only part of the SDF, and the "daedalus attack" when they'd punch through something and let the mecha out. lol
