I notice that FB comes bundled with either:

Ace or BOE

As I will only buy one bundled copy of FB, which do u suggest ?

Is BOE even out yet ? If so, how do u all find it ?

Thank you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BOE is third party with no new aircraft but they do have a new DGEN system for the Normandy maps. Initial reactions seem to be both good and bad so its hard to say what its really like at this point.

Ace Expansion Pack is the one from Maddox games with all the new aircraft. That one will get near universal adoption I would think...the other not so much.

I'd say Ace is the essential update. I'm waiting for a bit more feedback on BoE before deciding whether to buy it.

Actually, Alexi that thread is quite informative if you read most of it. It seems like there were complaints about slow down, but later explains that aircraft intensity can be set to suit. It needs a little more time for a proper play, I say....

My only dissapointment is the apparent spelling and grammatical errors. If you are going to publish anything with the written word that people are going to pay for there should be absolutely NO excuse for grammatical errors. None. It doesn`t matter if the language is not your first, find someone who knows the language. This applies with Russian to English, English to Russian, American to English! Whatever! Even English to English! Make sure they can spell- and check it! This world is not so big any more.

Anyway,It`s early days, but I think I`ll get it. Is it released in the UK?

I read the interview with the creators at sim-hq. It tells all about the product & is here:
http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_110a.html
It seems like it is a chance for "Luthier","Starshoy" & Ian Boys to make some $ for the work they did creating the new maps & DGen update.
I will get the Aces update I see if BoE has anything that is left out. I think the maps & Dgen update will both be in the Aces Expansion. I can live without the new skins. (IL2 skins anyone???)
If the Western Europe campaign is any different in BoE, I will get that too.

SeaFireLIV,

You can get it cheap at www.gameplay.co.uk (http://www.gameplay.co.uk) (14, free P&P)

I agree about the spelling/grammar. Perhaps I'm a bit of a crusty being a university lecturer, but I'm not particularly tolerant of what I see as simply laziness or lack of concern for quality/precision. Apparently all of the briefings are editable. I'll have a look when I can. The same thing is apparent in the LOMAC briefings. I still wonder if in the case of BoE it is a byproduct of the briefings being pasted together from a stock of snippets. If so, someone should have looked at the splice sites a little more closely. If this is not the case, I also don't see why a proof reader couldn't have been hired to check this. It probably would have only taken a day or two.

Someone mentioned that my .trk file on the SimHQ thread was corrupted, I'll re-upload it tonight.

Have played a bit more. Decided to start with the pre-invasion P-51 campaign but it is only two missions with airstarts before you're back to ground starts. If getting to your bombers from the ground isn't bad enough, there is also a mission where you get bounced by a pack of 109s from altitude while you're still climbing. They must have an ace or two among them because so far I haven't survived for more than a few seconds. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
