"So when Diogenes perceived that he was greatly excited and quite keyed up in mind with expectancy, he toyed with him and pulled him about in the hope that somehow he might be moved from his pride and thirst for glory and be able to sober up a little. For he noticed that at one time he was delighted, and at another grieved at the same thing, and that his soul was as unsettled as the weather at the solstices when both rain and sunshine come from the very same source."

(Dio Chrysostom "Discourse" 4.77-78)

It must have been blown out of the plane at a very close distance and lodged in that barrel as it fell.

It does look kind of fake due to the fact that nobody is LOOKING AT IT. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif Oh well, it does look awesome, would be really cool if it did happen.

Well now if the plane did hit the Missouri or the water it is possible that the pieces flew everywere and the machinge gun landed on the flak gun. I change my original response and I say now that I believe, I BELIEVE. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Good Photo Sky Chimp!
My Dad now deceased, has a photo in a collection he took while serving on the Troop transport HMAS Westralia in the Pacific.

Which I will post here when I can get my hands on it, in that particular photo a Kamakazi exploded in a fire ball, result of direct AA hit only 50 ft above Westralias aft Weld deck.
Just about every one above decks not standing behind somthing solid was blown off their feet by the shock wave of the Blast.
Close call that one, 2000 United States Marines below Westralias decks at the time too!

Cheers

That pics seems very strange to me, because there are no further parts left, for example gun fixing or parts of the wing etc. It seems like a fake to me, because these "wreckage" are too clean for a collision.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I see about 20 feet of an 888 foot ship there.

Do a google search, you'll find multiple references to the this particular kamikaze strike. Here's one:

You are showing your lack of attention to detail.... notice how the barrel of the MG is stuck into the split barrel of the AA gun. Stranger things have happened. I read a first hand account of a P-47 pilot who was doing a ground straffing mission. As he was on his run down low.....very low... he was suddenly faced with a German soldier directly in front of his plane... he couldnt avoid the soldier and the soldier couldnt avoid the plane... but the soldier apparently slipped through the prop blades without a scratch. If I can find the account I will post it.

Hey Chimp go figure.......these kids today are sooooooooooooooo cynical. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif Ignore them..our credibility with most of us is unquestioned. If there were any doubts you would not have posted it..

now that is a bs one, just calculate the space in the radios of each pro, calculate the rpm of the propelle, and calculate the size of the german solider, no space big enough for some one to pass by......... one thing is to pass real close, and other to pass by.....

besides i read on a more decent place about that kamikaze plane, it hit the ship in a too soft angle to do any damage to the ship, it hit and when into the sea, but who know, may be the missed the part about the machine gun flying into the air and getting stuck into the aaa
