The P-38 is bar far my favorite plane of the three, I've had a fascination with it since I was a kid. However, I would say that the Spit is the most deadly because of its overall superb handling characteristics. I have had no trouble staying behind an enemy aicraft once I get on his six. On the other hand the 109z has loads of fire power and takes down anything in front of it real fast. Problem is you have to get your target to stay in front of you for a bit.

P-38 hands down. Its got a little of everything. Against german planes its very dangerous cause its fast and has killer guns. The spit is no threat to a correctly flown German plane, way to slow.

Indeed,I acpected more of the spitfire. But it turns down to being a big turn down. they turn relativly good but they are SLOOOOOOWWWW... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and indeed P 38 is the way to go. speed I don't know,I've never came up over 450 with it at level flight at 800 meters. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

BF 109 Z would've been cool is it'd been a P 38 look alike,so 2 BF's with in the middle a "pod" where the driver sits :=)

Hang on chaps.....you're talking about a 1941 plane here!! It's max speed was very similar to the 190F, and I've not seen any threads saying..Ohh the 109F is sooo slow!

Vb was competitive with any 109 contemporary with it. Ie, 109E and the aforementioned F model. Only once the 190A appeared did the balance shift to the LW. That period , between the introduction of the 190A and the Spitfire IX in 1942 was the only time that the Spitfire was outclassed, and only by the 190. At all other times it was either equal to or better than the opposition.

Comparisons like Spit v P38, or Spit v P51 are somewhat academic as they never met in combat, and so one cannot say for certain which would prevail. Apart from that..which Spit?? Which P38? I have a feeling that a late mark Spit would demolish a P38. Faster level, faster in the dive, better climb, higher ceiling, better turn, similar firepower (2 cannon & 2x.50) or better (4 cannon), etc..still, can't say for certain though.

If I had all the money I'd spent on drink..I'd spend it on drink!

I've found the 109-Z will out turn the P38s, even when the P38s use Air Brakes and flaps.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The 109-Z is faster than both of the planes mentioned and has by far the best firepower out of all 3. Using manual CEM in the 109-Z also produces excellent results when zoom climbing or trying to extend.

This is my #1 fun plane to fly at the moment. I think I'll set up a 109-Z versus P38 server tonight for a bit.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
