Hopefully we will get more as time goes by. But I see I'll be operating from the Yorktown.

She was the first Naval vessel I built as a kid, then the Arizona.

I put electric motors in them and glued the props on and sent them across the pond. To my brother and he'd turn them back to me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Navy called the Avenger "Turkey" since it was so big and slow. Had a tendancy to drop its tail if it was too slow in the landing pattern.

It's a beautiful list already. Thanks.

I don't want to complain but from a historical perspective the Mitsubishi G3M "Nell" is a must because it was a major japanese bomber in the early years of the war.
And I was hoping for a flyable flying boat but that must wait too.

Isn't that the same list that was already posted three weeks ago by the French beta testers?

Great news Razz!!! With the addition of these planes even though some that were hoped for are not yet flyable.. the franchise will have an absolutely stunning array of aircraft to choose from.... I noticed it said Essex class.. Lexington class etc. Does that mean they may be skinnable? Or at least have skins where we can put the approriate markings on them? Sounds great even if that is not the case!! For those of you who are disapointed keep in mind who we are dealing with and note that it says WIP plane list http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Remember FB 1.0? Anemic?

Pfffffffff http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

6 Axis and 12 Allied basic types.

Giving us 18 basic ariframes to fly with 32 different variations!

And this is a Work in Progress list. The only way id be dissapointed with the list is if they started withdrawing stuff from it.

Come on guys. This is the first official list, even if it is only WiP. With 32 different flyable aircraft. Think about how other Maddox flight sims have expanded. With a bit of patience you will be flying almost anything you could wish for.

If anyone is complaining abotu the slant towards Allied aircraft think about how mant different types the British and American airforces and navies operated in comparison to the Japanese. 2 to 1 actually seems fairly reasonable to me.

I dunno... "Pacific Fighters" with only the Zero, Hien, and Hayabusa Mk I flyable Japanese fighters. Sounds a little weak. Especially after those screenshot teasers of Raidens and Shidens. I'd think the Ki-43-II, at least, would be mandatory. And Ki-44 a necessity for CBI.

If not in the initial release, I'd at least hope to know they're planned for addition in the near future.

The Japanese side seems a little light.

But I still have my copy on pre-order with Amazon.

I have to agree that the Japanese plane set is a bit anemic. And no flyable PBY, Avenger or big bomber is a bit of a disappointment, but what is listed is more than enough to guarantee that I'll cough up the money for this add-on when it hits the shelves.

The ship list is impressive with 36 new ships, 22 of them warships. The new ground targets (armor, trucks, trains and guns) look good too. Any chance we will see some of these in an upcoming dev update?

This is a great starting lineup any way you look at it. Experience tells us we might get some of the holes filled in patches, but I'm looking forward to shaking down the a/c and maps we're getting.

Like most of us, I have a couple of priority wishes. One would be a flyable PBY which Gibbage has in some state of near-completion, I think. The other would be a Bougainville map because so much sea and air action took place up the east side of the island. Maybe in the future.

In the meantime, kudos to the team.

Everything looks good. At least we get a b-24 ai. Although I'm quite shocked not to see Bougainville on the map list.

There are a few things that confuse me about the list , how come there is no hurricane or Sea Hurri? Surely as the base model was in IL2 it wouldnt have been to tough to model it slightly different?

At least there is the 'G2' equivalent Spit the VIII , which is meant to be the best handling Dog fighter of the lot.

I know http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Still, I'm hopeful that it may make an appearance eventually. I seem to recall someone said an external had already been done for it.

In the mean time, an appearance from something a bit bit older and creakier than PF:

Ki-44 model for CFS2 (http://pigeonh.free.fr/ki442.htm)

Edit: found some stuff on Netwings- read what Ed says:

How are we supposed to torpedo all them ships if there aren't any flyable torpedo planes?
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

yes i realize this is only a wip list and torpedo planes will probably be available later.
...this is just a hint.

With only six weeks to go before the proposed release date, it is odd that they could allow such a bad piece of press such as this plane list to remain as the most up to date information available. It sort of makes the game look bad.

Maybe they are trying to build up anticipation.

What they are getting is consternation.

Am I the only one who finds it odd to have a PTO flight sim with no flyable torpedo bombers?

list looks great, looking forward to updates.

Will IL2-FB/AEP planes be flyable as well? PF can be used or installed as an update / patch can't it?

If so what is everyone worrying about, surely PF planes + FB/AEP planes will be more than enough for the moment. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

What? No B-26 Marauder! How can you have a battle at Midway and not have the B-26? This is onr of my Favorite WWII Planes.... next to the Corsair that is. You are doing a great job though. Keep it up.

All posts with disappointment to stop please.

Compare IL-2 to what exists now, and imagine PF in a year or so, with looooots more a/c, no doubt including torpedo bombers, 4 engine bombers, and so on. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/upfiles/smiley/00000030.gif

Yeah guys...this list is old. Months infact.

The forum moderator was doing a service by posting a list of *confirmed* aircraft. The rest is speculation like everything was before these lists started floating about.

I was a little disappointed till I was told that too so lets keep it happy around here.

How about commenting on the fantastic things like the Beaufighter flyable, the Betty bomber and what we can do with that, or how about the A-20...I'm very much looking forward to that plane!

Great list..loks like I'll spend my winter time flying over the warm water of the Pacific http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
A big thank to the development team and for Oleg.
Though,it is a little odd to see a Pacific flightsim without an carrier based torpedo plane flyable...hope we will see them soon.

Ok - have to confess this is the first time I've checked this thread - trying not to get too excited about the prospect but now I've gone and done it. So - couple of (very positive) comments!

First - flyable beaufighter - - joy unconfined! I've got a 1/48 tamiya one looking at me on the shelf above my monitor - but looks like I'm now within a few months of getting my hands on whispering death!

Secondly, that list of maps! Wow - after all the whingeing about nothing but water to fly over and how it's going to be a really techies navigation game - I see Rangoon, Japan (what - the whole of it??!), Singapore, New guinea...

I spent 18 months flying out off Ranggoon (Yangon as it now is) in Sikorsky 76's - so it'll be really cool to see how realistic it looks. For those of you who've never been to Burma - it basically hasn't chaged since the second world war - there are still Bedford and Dodge lorries, and old british army bridges that have never been replaced!

So - my only question - how upto dte is all this?

Not even going to dare ask the "when" question...

May not sleep for a week anyway!

Good work by everyone concerned so far! It really is appreciated!

Is the impossibility of flying torpedo bombers as Kate, avenger or devastator an answer to the horrible torpedoes actually existing in IL2/FB?
(I.E. dive launch at any speed resulting in a magnific torpedo launch)

Howsabout an A5M Claude, Ki-27 Nate, a Ki-21 Sally and G3M Nell and a China map to go with em? I'd love to do an early war campaign or even Nomonhan (Khalkin Gal). Maybe a B-17C for the Phillipines or a Devastator? I'll give em some time to work before I b*tch too much though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Flyable Avenger and Kate are definitely essential for torpedo runs on fat targets, no? I can't wait to try the Rufe, what a floatplane!

Not being fascetious there.
I really think putting floats on a Zero was a mindblowing concept. Did I spell that word right?
