I'm almost ashamed to admit that Black Flag is the first and ONLY Assassin's Creed I've ever played... But that being said I was completely sucked in and blown away. I have no excuses... Lol. But in all seriousness, I have only one question:

WHEN is the next installment going to be released and does anyone have a clue where the story will take us next?!

Welcome to the world of AC. I've played every one of the games in the order that they came out and I remember feeling exactly what you just described after my first play through of AC1.

To answer your Qs, the next major installment should be released in the fall of this year and no one knows anything concrete about it yet. There is plenty of speculation, theories and discussion going on though. The same thing happens every year about this time in the ACverse.
These thread are probably a good place to start.

If only you knew, lol. Speculation about the next title is running rampant. Popular topics of discussion include Ming-dynasty China, feudal Japan, Victorian or Tudor England, ancient Egypt, and the French Revolution, but there's no official suggestion that any of those will be correct. The developers hinted that there was a clue to the next location in the Freedom Cry pack for AC4, and most fans have concluded that it was the small box in Adewale's possession at the end, which seems to be identical to a box carried by Shao Jun (below) in the AC Embers short film.

Which would point to Ming-dynasty China, but again, we don't really know. The last several AC games have been announced in the first week of March though, so we've only got a bit over a month to wait.

welcome to the family! i'm actually in the middle of re-playing the ezio trilogy...forgot how good those games were, just finished brotherhood. after the frontier in 3, and the high seas of black flag, i forgot how much fun the big cities were. if you like the gameplay, i'd highly suggest you pick up the earlier titles. you can probably score them for like 6 bucks each used at gamestop.

welcome, my new bloody wristed brother. by all means get up to speed on the whole series. AC1, the original, still looks mighty good for a 2007 game.

BTW, anyone else here find themselves walking around in their daily lives humming shanties?

lol

Not shanties but whenever I see something beautiful or moving whilst out walking around, the ?violin? solo from the track Roman Countryside in Brotherhood starts playing in my head.
It's one of the most awesome pieces of music I've ever heard in a game or any other other media for that matter.

This ambient sound is stuck in my head for days now! I recently took one sunday and listened to the soundtracks of all games and wow... That gave me chills! It's remarkable how every AC soundtrack is an epic masterpiece!

My favourite at the moment is this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPIRx6oGGdE). Amazing part starts at 00:40

edit: It's not from AC, but this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D25KtIKxcwA) would definitely fit the series. Beyond: Two Souls was just amazing!

yes, that is one fine piece of music!!!

BTW, from a soundtrack standpoint, the first time ever in AC1, the first Damascus Viewpoint i climbed, then synched... i was blown away. Viewpoint and synching them is an iconic bit of AC, and i hope it never changes.
