Pretty obvious Abstergo entertainment is like Ubisoft, but it goes deeper.
Olivier Garneau is Chief creative officer at abstergo industries, in this scenario he represents Patrice Desilets, creative director for Assassin's Creed 1&2.
In AC4 we see Olivier wanting to be creative, wanting to do what's best for the franchise, but the higher ups at abstergo restrict him, they limit his creative potential for their own nefarious causes, much like how Ubisoft restricted Patrice's creativity for Assassins's Creed.
Then Olivier is killed, most likely by assassins, representing the Assassin's Creed Franchise and how ubisoft killed Patrice Desilets.

Thoughts?

IIRC, Olivier was missing, not killed. Possibly held hostage by the Assassins for all we know.

Patrice left of his own according. /thread

Then it's even more like real life, since Patrice was never actually murdered...Physically, only spiritually.

But Patrice still willingly left. He dropped the project and walked out of the door. Olivier never gave up, even on pressure. He was simply missing and could possibly be making a return in AC:V.

Patrice was ready to take over Ubi before Yves's cult followers attacked him, his whereabouts is currently unknown, much like Olivier's.
