View Full Version : Can anyone spare some pity?

I'd just like to toss a line out there and see if anyone can spare some pity.

You see, my brain is beating against the inside of my skull, trying to get out.

I spent the better part of my work day locked in a battle of wits with my clearly unarmed boss.

I have to get my orthadontics tightened tomorrow.

Anyone? A little pity?

(Opens her backpack)
Hrm... misery... no (tossed away a large pouch)
Happiness... no he requested pity (tosses away a small pouch)
Remorse... not quite (tosses away a box)
Let me see,... I think I have some pity in here... (puts her head in her bag and checks it out)
AHA! Here it is! Some pity for our good ole mod! (pulls out a plastic vile filled with purple powder)
Now, how much pity do you need... hrm... well, for fried brains, I would say 6.66grams... (pulls out a small cup and pours the purple powder into it)
Ok, that looks like enough.
Here you go! Just add water and presto! Instant pity! (hands the cup to graham)

On the orthodontics tightening, you definitely score high on my give-the-man-some-pity scale. I feel your pain.

On the witless boss...well, some crosses we just have to bear http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'll sympathize with you on the ortho tightening. I had mine done last night and I had to let my breakfast cereal get soggy this morning before I could eat it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Just a little tip for you, as soon as you get some work done on them(including whe they get taken off), take a pain reliever. I did that during the last two years with them (grade 5 to grade 9) and I never felt anymore pain from them. Now to try to get the retainers over with.

Also, if you have a roof-plate, feel the skin with your tounge when they come off, the reaction loads of fun

Hey, no one every gave me pity when i had to have 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled. Epsecialy when they were done in one day, and one of the teeth had to be broken into 3 pieces to be pulled out. Also, the pain killers mostly dont work on me, so many miss out on the pain.

But i probably can find some pity, just a little.

You want a wisdom teeth story?
I got all 4 of mine taken out when I was 16. All of them had not even broken through the gums yet. For 14 hours after surgery, the holes kept on bleeding. I went through a whole box of gauze, used many tea bags and ice cubes. Nothing worked...
Until I vomited blood since I had swallowed so much. Then did I start feeling better.
And to this day, if I have something really cold, the holes hurt like heck.
Sorry for the graphics but that's what happened to me. Now my stepmother doesn't want anyone else in the family to get their wisdom teeth taken out because of what happened to me. I'm such a good role model!

I had mine taken out 2 at a time. The bottom ones were the worst. They wouldnt stop bleeding and the teabag thing made my tongue turn brown, plus the taste of the tea made me want to puke so it just made things worse. Yummy....

Nah, teabag is not the best taste on the planet, I second that.

There I think I'm lucky. Even with all my genetically missing teeth, I believe my wisdom's are growing in straight. I have come to this conclusion after carfully studying the pattern of the grooves on all the teath back there.

My wisdom teeth randomly threaten to take over my mouth, but lately they've not caused any trouble.

I know the pity train is over, but you definitely have mine. I guess you can save it for later. (just punch a few holes in the bag, so it doesn't suffocate).

I've also got something more than pity for you. Get the book Toxic Co-workers or Toxic People. Helps keep the inflexibility and moronic nature of others at a distance. But it is nice that your boss was able to apologize later, some don't do it at all.

Who Moved the Cheese!

At my work we spend our time dodging around the boss, looking busy until he returns to his 4800sq.f. house in Mexico the end of the month...

Oh, wait, we have been busy... I had two dog dentals to do this morning, but I often have 3, sometimes 4... [Cats take less time, fewer teeth.]

I had all four wisdom teeth out at once because they were encysting in my jaw and destroying the bone... But general anesthetic is a wonderful thing!
They pulled the upper two out whole and I made earrings out of them. ^_^

Salome here. Might I suggest cement Nikes and bubbles in the nearest body of water to your place of employment. Do it in the middle of the night--he'll never know what hit him!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

OT: Gee, thanks everybody for the horror stories of wisdom teeth removal (it is my fault I read them though). Having 2 out next month. I guess I should be happy that one is almost imbeded in a nerve and I am missing the fourth (neither of those coming out next month). But seriously, maybe I will dodge the dentist consult...and the surgeon...

You only have to suffer the pain if you want to.
If the initial analgesics provided/prescribed by your dentist are not effective, let him/her know and get something that is.
Even with an infected root canal I was able to get relief from blinding pain, but I had to let the dentist know what was going on to get his help.
