I installed CFS2 again. Boy, I'll tell you, we're really spoiled after playing Sturmovik and Forgotten Battles. Even though CFS2 was pretty advanced for it's time, it can't hold a candle to what's in development at 1C Maddox. And even though you can add planes from 3rd party's, they're a pain in the neck to install. I'd rather have the system that Oleg provides, with planes being given in add-on's and updates. At least you know your getting quality and the best models. I know one thing, I'll be pre-ordering Pacific Fighters.

Best Regards

Agreed. The new flight sim Olegarchy Rules!

http://www.boardy.de/images/smilies/kopfpatsch.gif ...but never pre~order anything http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

Just ask around why. If you pre~order FP, you will be the last to get FP.

And there will be much Whining and Pulling of Teeth.

Total agreement with both of yas. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

CFS2 might be good for practice but it will never hold a candle to FB.

And preordering is asking for trouble. You're the last to get whatever it is you preorder. LOL

Good Point with the Pre-Ordering. I think I'll wait intill it's available and then order it right away.

i pre-ordered aep and the game wound up being in stores 2 weeks before i got the game in my hot little hands. i assumed that those that pre-ordered would have 1st dibs. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

as far as fb vs cfs2, cfs2 was like fb back then; grafix wise. now it it would be like cfs1. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif
cfs2 had alot of problems tho. specially with the plane spec's basically being wide open to modifications. fb's is locked and what u see is what u get; u have to learn the secrets of each plane. best feature of fb is u can fully lock the cockpit to get the most realism u could without being in a real plane. that, and being able to kill the pilot where in cfs2, that wouldnt happen. all the real world parameters: overheats, stall/flat spins, cut oil lines, ammo ballistics, etc, in fb that cfs2 wasnt even close to getting. u could fly practically forever with a flaming engine in cfs2, in fb, u'll either bbq in the cockpit, or the plane would explode.

best thing about fb is u can carry ordanace and fly bombers...unheard of in cfs2. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif
think the ship aaa is just a bit off tho. in the area of the flak guns with all the smoke puffs practically chasing the plane, and all the tracer smoke that i didnt see in combat films of carrier's that was under kamikaze attack.

what i did notice in fb vs cfs2, centerline fuel tanks would go boom with little ammo; same for wing tanks. corsair, hell/wildcat's guns were almost but not quite as strong as the george's 4x20mm's, but would cripple a plane alot faster than in fb; but fb's planes dont flop end over end for the most part like cfs2's corsair that would be practically unrecoverable..flat spins in fb being the exception.
what would make fb better for the american birds is brighter tracers. the i-16 and a few other russian planes have tracers u can see for miles in cockpit; even their 'mosquito gun tracers' are rather bright. fb is light years ahead of cfs2...havent gone back since fb came out.

I just flew a little CFS2 on the Zone today to practice on-line carrier traps. I'm a bit rusty. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif The BSS that have transitioned over from CFS2 with me won't fly CFS2 anymore, but a few still do carrier ops.

The only thing CFS2 is good for in the Sheeps Pen is pattern practice and keeping the "sight picture" in virtual cockpit behind the boat fresh in our minds. Flight model pattern practice is in full swing in FB/AEP flying the P-47. What a hog in the pattern! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
We'll have enough current CQ pilots to pass the skill on to the rest of the squadron, and some of those squadrons expressing an interest in receiving CQ training from us.

S!

hi,
10 buks more + preordering..
but a small demo could be helpfull..
even if the designers of Maddox team (+ third party)has learned about the mistakes of the past...
even to a correct height of pilot eyes view (+ the seat)in normal cockpit position, surround view and gunsight/gyroscope view.. (shift+F1)
and which is not restricted by 'overframed bars/struts'...

By using the old camera view system of game engine IL-2/FB I'm a bit pessimistic...

But anyway: a lot of programmers do nice work of realistic panel design...as we saw in the last updates...but that' half of the job...

You guys pre-order at the wrong place.

I always pre-order it by the store I buy all my software from.
You even get a discount when you pre-order it there.
As soon as they have it in store they give me a call and I come over and pick it up.
I don't even have to pay in advance, I simply pay the guy at the counter.
This way I have the game at the same day it's in stock.
