Connectivity question regarding Kenway's Fleet?

Ubi's FAQ says Kenway's Fleet progress will continue in real time in the cloud even when you're not playing, but they say you need an internet connection. Does that mean you also need to leave your PC running for those real time updates, or will it progress on their servers even if you shut your PC/connection off, then let you retrieve those updates next time you turn it on?

In other words does it require 24/7 connectivity? I'm not one of those leave my PC on constantly guys. I like to shut it off every night.

No you don't have to leave it on. It needs to be connected while your playing the game if you want to do any Fleet stuff. The missions your ships are on will continue to progress while your offline,
