This is the 314th, Black Knights, not the 214, Blacksheep.
I think the "patch work" is actually "digital camouflage", like the new USMC camo uniforms.

im just making a guess here, and im sure someone will correct me if im wrong. it looks kinda like what the new camo suits look like for the marines. i guess that camo pattern is harder to see than the regular one.
