View Full Version : Whats the next big FB:ACES Patch or Exapmasion (not Pacific or BOB)

So where too from here? I am really enjoying the latest patch but am dissappointed about the lack of flyable Bombers. There is still no viable\serious Allied Bomber to fly.

Will their be another patch or expansion. If so what do we know about it?

As far as I understood it their will be another paying expansion patch and possibly some more free patches.

I for one would prefer if these patches and expansions were rolled into Pacific Fighters (which would include FB:aces just like il2 was included when FB came out)

I think we'll see the Ju-88 as a flyable ac soon. The B-25 is supposed to be flyable soon too.

Are you serious Bird_brain!!!!! Tell me where the evidence is thats the most awesome news!!!!
OMG this is the greatest sim ever

As for the Ju88, a dive bomber and a conventional bomber rolled into one!! Great news. Also the Mitchell is cool. Looks like the brits come last again http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

So can we still expect another paid expansion to FB this year before the big Pacific fighters??

I haven't heard anything about another paid expansion, but another big update is suppossed to come out sometime before PF, with (hopefully) the Ju-88, B-25, P-47N and some others included flyable. Personally, this is why I think it was so hard to get the last patch out:

They have this last patch, the next one, and PF to do the final tweaking, as well as be compatible with each other and not screwing the entire code base up. Not an easy task, and my hats off to them for thier efforts. The fact that these patches are free, but will most likely be built off of to implement PF is really cool.

Good hunting,

What if there were no hypothetical questions?

Awesome, I wonder whether Pacific Fighters will also have an add-on. Or whether the engine will be abandoned for BOB by then.

Its confirmed then PF will be compat with FBACES

Good new boys, very good news indeed!!!

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

A long time ago, in a IL-2/FB forum far far away, Oleg already made a post of where too next.
Although I have never been able to find the post again because it is buried amongst the thousands that have been made since, ( plus this forum had a big revamp in recent times I think)everything he did say in that original post has come to pass so far.

Originaly Oleg said that as long as the Sims sold well, he would expand into all theatres Battle of Britain and the Pacific, then we would go back to where this all started The Russian Front!

Which is fair enough I suppose, anyhow that is the last post I ever read on this matter posted by the man himself and that was a long time ago.

Pffft...we need a patch for the last patch. Fixes for the screwed up new spitfires and the jets that cause significant lag whenever flown on-line.

do you really believe that Oleg will keep building the aircraft lists until all theatres are done? I think PAcific Fighters is the end of the line for this engine and will spell the last time we get more aircraft added to the one sim.
I believe BOB will be like starting from scratch all over again. Few Aircraft but a new engine.

I thought the Lancaster was a Myth and the British really had no Air force only the Americans http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I think Oleg is going to make new add-ons as long as it pays to do so. The question is really whether a bombers add-on would be worth the effort. If I have understood things right, making bombers is far more time consuming than making a fighter.

I don't min paying for what I get, and I would gladly pay for a few bombers. Just off the top of my head I could mention:

Lancaster, Hallifax or Stirling
B-24 Liberator or B-17
The P-2 and Su-2 flyable
Ju-88 or Do-17
Wellington
B-25 Mitchell
Hampden
Baufighter

And I for one would love the Med theatre of operations. Having snooped around the forums for a while, I don't think I am the only one. With the new Nth Africa Map, things are looking positive.

In fact, if I was a betting man, I would put a couple of bucks on another of Oleg's little surprises - We have most of the planes, there is at least one map in existance....

Maybe we'll be flying the Med before too long http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I certainly hope so, that would be awesome, especially with some of the canyons that the desert offers.
You really need a stack more than just maps to make it an experience in the desert though. You need to replicate the weather and natural effects of the region, the dust and the sand of armour moving visable for miles. THe cities with their different building styles and the Ports like Tobruk. etc
THe Planes with weighty sand filters and stifling cockpits. The taxi guiders sitting on your wings http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Ok too far
I have not seen good ports in Sturmovik yet? Unless somebody can point me too one on the existing maps.
I personally would also like the opportunity to taxi on runways and take off in pairs or formations.
