Go to http://stream.apple.akadns.net/ to see a short demo of Revelation. It starts at 29:16 into the presentation, and it looks absolutely beautiful, but be forewarned: there is a puzzle SPOILER!!

Not to be rude Gallifreylady, but the lady giving the overly forced and dry presentation said that it was a demo puzzle and that there were no spoilers in terms of puzzles. All we learn is that the fireplace grants you access to the linking book chamber.

I wonder if we will be able to play Myst 4 on the new 30" displays?

The M4 demo is at 00:29:20 to 00:32:11 for those who don't want to watch the whole thing. Or you can download just the relevant bit at http://www.mysterium.ch/index_e.html .

The demo puzzle looks like the same one shown at E3 (from the demo that we will hopefully get this summer), so this is NOT the first time this interactive demo has been shown, contrary to what the blonde lady says.

Presumably it's just the solution to the puzzle that's a placeholder -- the location is a dead giveaway, but any Myst fan would certainly have headed right for it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You also see where you find the amulet!

But she's showing it on MAC, and trust me it WAS INDEED the first time an interactive demo was shown on mac (cause we had our programming team work till 2 in the morning all of last week to get it up and running...), so in fact, she is quite right!

Hey!! the sound cut out real early and I couldn't get it back. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Anybody know why?

I also tried downloading it from mysterium.ch, but all I got was a blank page for a long time. The icon in the bottom left said done, so I don't get it.

You probably need to update your version of quicktime. Nice and easy free d/l straight from the apple website. Watch some movie trailers while you're there! I love quicktime! Oohh..."Garden State"...ooo...Natalie Portman...hrm..and no mention of New Jersey...odd.

As for the preview, I'm always amped for apple news, even if I'm running on a WIndows machine. Sigh...Mac at heart, as always. With any luck, this will be my last Primary PC. Alll future funds go to my artwork, which would include a top of the line apple machine. Or an iPod.

What? iPod's are...artsy...right?

Nah you dont. I got the same problem.

Rather than left-clicking to stream it, just right click, go save target as...

Then choose a location, save, download it, and watch it afterwards.

O man that was cool. I've never seen the game in action before.

"But wait! What's this we see on the floor? You see an AMULET!" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

lol. But I have a bit of a problem with what I saw.
Myst has ALWAYS been proud of the fact that there are no interface control thingies to distract you. Each game seems to be creeping away from that - Riven had the popups at the bottom. Exile had the inventory displayed faded the whole time. Uru has that KI thing which you can activate.

But this is a bit too far I think. It seems theres a little toolbar at the bottom the whole time. Its not supposed to be Warcraft!

EDIT: "And by the way, this product's gorgeous soundtrack will feature original composition from Peter Gabriel."
What happened to Jack Wall? As far as I'm concerned, he's the hero of Myst III. Gabriel just plugged a song on the end of Uru. I hope Wall is doing the main score for Revelation.

But besides that - I CANNOT BELIEVE how realistic it looks. Even at that resolution - I am actually getting tingles. This looks like live action video (No I'm not talking about the blonde woman, but the game footage!)
OMG this is just way too incredible. I've always thought Revelation sounded incredible, but I've never seen just how... indescribable these graphics; this world are/is.

And I LOVE the fireplace puzzle. She said its just a demo puzzle, (so they'll change the code) but I hope they have that. It'd be nice.
I hope they have it in Path of the Shell as well. Nice all-round sorta thing.

If Pat or the guys are reading this - kudos. Blown away. Maybe think about hiding the interface unless you mouse-over the bottom (see Riven/Uru).

"So we're really looking forward to this..."

It still didn't work. It won't let me save when I right click. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Peter Gabriele is only doing one song for Revelation. The entire rest of the soundtrack is being composed and recorded by Jack Wall.

Perhaps the ending has not yet been written!

Hmm, EMS -- the interface bar is the same as Myst -- whatever you pick up shows at the bottom. Don't forget that in Myst, not only can you hold a blue/red page, but you also for short periods need to hold a book of matches and a key http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

So I don't think it's fair to say that the interface is creeping away from its roots.

Calistoaris, are you still having problems downloading it? The Mysterium.ch link works fine for me (it's on my server so it better! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ). What browser are you using? And you're using the "Save target/link as..." option on the page when you right click on the "download"? Here's a direct link if it's easier:

i already know how to solve that puzzle now even if they change it.. the basic idea would still be there.. if anyone has ever played lights off then you know how to solve it... its a pretty easy puzzle

The thing I like so much about seeing the MAC demo of Revelation was that you could walk around similar to Uru instead of click a screen to move to the next screen as in other Myst Games.

That was one thing that I always was annoyed by in the Myst games. Click to move to the next screen rather then actually walking around. When Uru came out and I found you could really walk around instead of clicking screens, I thought cool.

Now with Revelation doing the same thing, I am very excited.

Umm sorry to break it to you Deladra, but Revelation is still fixed-node adventure. You can pan your view around freely, as in Exile. And the environments are as interactive as if they were realtime. But there will be no free movement.

In regards to the interface bar - OK Sri, sorry I didn't mean go back to Myst. That would be a little limiting. But Riven/Uru would be nice - the interface is hidden unless you mouseover the bottom of the screen.

And good it is that Jack Wall is scoring Myst IV. But why does she specifically point out Peter Gabriel? Getting some brownie points by name-dropping.

If you want to appeal to Myst fans, name-drop Jack Wall (I'd never heard of Peter Gabriel until Uru!)

Never heard of Peter Gabriel? Must not have been a child of the 80's. He was the original lead singer of Genesis and made quite a few albums, has a new one out now. Very good musician, one of the very few left that still writes his own words and music.
