I've got the Assassin's Creed II free for gold on xbox live. I've finished the game probably a week or 2 ago. I started playing and I load up my save and played for a while. Then, when i opened a chest it says Save Options have failed. The storage device containing the gamer profile in use has been removed. I quit the game to see what it ment and went to my storage in the home menu. All it says in the Assassin's Creed folder is the game itself. I went back to my game, my save file wasn't there anymore. But even when I played it again for about an hour and in sequence 3, i quit and checked if the save was there. It wasn't :( At least this game has a very short story.

That sounds as if the Gamer Profile used to buy the game, has been removed from the HDD?

I would contact support and see what they suggest:
