View Full Version : Why i would like to rather see Assassin's creed set in WW1.

Well, for starters, this is only like my second post for a very long time, so hi there ubi community. :P

But, anyway, here are my reasons:

Settings: You have 4 of the most cluttered and crowded cities in the world at the time to go roof-climbing in, London, Berlin, Paris and Moscow. You also have the country side, where, if not lucky enough, you could be walking into a skirmish. You could build up a small village on say, the French countryside. Camps would take the place of forts here, to.

Ship on ship combat: Who wouldn't rather use a British or German Dreadnought rather than an old wood and sail ship to fight? Sure, it would get rid of the hand-to-hand combat on ships, but come on, Dreadnoughts...

Weapons: Granted, you couldn't be running around with a Vickers or Maxim machine gun strapped to your back, but you could carry a Rifle or pistol of some kind, plus, all the same types of weapons seen in previous AC's are still viable, since they were all used in trench hand-to-hand combat. Also, machine guns would provide a challenge to players.

Story line: Well, you already have one notable assassin there in that time-period, Nikolai, so i assume the story line could involve the Russian Revolution, i also assume it would involve Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

City travel: Since at the time, cars were still not very popular yet, you wouldn't see that many, I'm pretty sure though, armored cars or even tanks could be involved in the combat at one point, and even still, horses were used widely.

So pretty much, these are a few of my reasons i would love to see a WW1 Assassin's creed. Sorry if this has been posted before and have a nice day

Though I think an Assassin's Creed game set in WWI is feasible, I don't think Ubisoft is capable of making it. Look at how much the emphasis has shifted from stealth and assassination to guns and open combat just in the 18th century. I don't think Ubi has the restraint to build a tense stealth/action adventure in the 20th century without it turning into something more like "Splinter Cell: Old School" than an AC title.

Oh yea. But I love this idea, I see this is more preferred then anything. At least during this era we have plenty of options; cars, planes, weapons, missions. Let's say this does happen, we cold jump from planes in parachutes. Rushing the beach it could be MMO. Where another team has a different objective. We could even play on the Abstergo side so you can have different experiences. It would really be a new experience.

We can go into an alternate reality and chase hitler

Naval battles are well thought out, and they have a good system, but I really hope they don't become a staple. Black Flag should be where they drop off and get ported to a new franchise. Maybe Ubisoft can get a movie game license of PoTC.

I agree, it needs to go away. I dont want every era we have to now have naval battles.

Yea, that's why with AC4 they are always focusing on stealth. "Look, you can stealth here and there and pretty much everywhere! Stealth sailing while tailing a ship in the swamps! Stealth stealth stealth!"

I think ship battles are something that should always be in certain AC games. If we ever get an AC in Classical Greece we should have naval free-roam and battles.

Games that have nudity in them probably have other things that kids shouldn't be playing.

I can't tell if you're a bot or not.

I'd like being able to be an assassin with a M1911 and Springfield but the dreadnought thing is just a bit too much. I mean AC is supposed to be about stealth not firepower. I actualy was anoyed when I got the gun in AC2 because in my opinion it was just ridiculouse. If a AC game was set in WWI or WWII I cam see myself enjoying it though.

No. The frequent explosions would ruin the integrity of the game and then nothing else would matter.

WW1 is more appropriate for other genres than action adventure and for WW2 The Saboteur already did it.

They would make interesting side material in comics and movies if done right.

Like AC: Nanking. You'd like an AC: Nanking movie, wouldn't you?

Get away from me you creep.

But yeah, its very irritating. Hey, My city would make a great AC setting cause we have a river here. Naval battles galore! I

I want naval to go away after Black Flag. Don't want it to outlive its welcome. I wonder if Ubisoft's habit of cramming their games with useless baggage might not be in part influenced by fan expectation?

Either way, if you want a a WW1/2 era AC-type game, as always I recommend:

You can even drive around Paris in a Panzer! This game is the reason I never felt the need to have a WW-era AC. :p

I was going on the assumption it takes place in that time, not anywhere near the war itself. For the more modern tech.

Let the records show that I was vehemently opposed to this suggestion and that this objection was so severe that it manifested physically in the form of diarrhoea

How the hell did we get here?

Also regarding dreadnoughts,

1. They are many times larger than AC3/4 type ships. I have no idea how it would handle in combat

2. Back in the days, anyone could take a ship and go sailin', so it makes sense for Connor and Edward to do it. But in WW1, being a full time naval captain responsible for a ****ing dreadnought and also being an assassin roaming all over the country ... its pushing it too hard.

Yes they can, it's history and they shouldt rule out some just becouse some say it does not 'suit' AC. The stealth has a chance to be better with guns, three choices for the player: Run an and gun or Social stealth or hide in the shadow stealth. Three ways to complete a mission. The series is based on history and open world so giving more choices is a good thing. It is also good chance for better cover system, silent/loud takedowns(non-lethal/lethal) and a crunch button.
It will have a more fresh taste then only 'combat time periods' becouse it will be to much of the same if they continue with it. It's also one of my reasons i looke forward to ACIVBF becouse it changed the way of going open world in AC.

WW1 was already used way too much in games IMO.

On the contrary, WW1 is criminally underused in games.

A few obscure adventure and strategy games, flight simulators and fan mods, you call that overused? compare that list with other settings lists and you'll see what overused is.

I actually wouldnt mind a WW1 AC game. WW2 there would be too much auto weapons. They could set it around WW1 but not have it in a place that has a bunch of weapons/ a massive part of the war so it makes the Assassin more of a side character of the historical element rather than a major part (Like Connor was made out to be in the American Revolution).
