View Full Version : Grille Chompa's Script packs

I keep coming across old posts talking about Grill Chompa's script packs and how cool they work.
Grille Chompa's site has been down for a long time and I was hoping one of you veteran IL-2 aficionados might still have them in your files. :)

Here is a link to Grille Chompa's old web page at the Internet Archive to help refresh you memory.
Grille Chompa's Scripts Homepage: http://web.archive.org/web/20070816022048/http://scripts.sturmovik.de/html/index_english.html

Grille Chompa's Scripts page: http://web.archive.org/web/20050920043227/http://scripts.sturmovik.de/html/scripts.html

I highlighted the names that were used for the zip files in yellow to help you search for them in your files.

Iconscript download: Iconscript.zip (Cloyd @ M4T was generous enough to supply me with this one. :) ) (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&p=139490#139490)
This server script includes 7 presets for the mp_dotrange-options and additionally supplies the user with the possibility
to store it's preferred values in a file and with the execution of these linked to the existing script.
Additional information is to be found in attached script information.

Automatic mission cycling download: Missioncyclescript.zip
This serverscript changes in-game time and the mission after a preset time-span.
Additional information is to be found in attached script information.

"Rata gearscript" download: Rata gearscript.zip
This script takes over the work of retracting and extending the landing gear of the I-16 "Rata".
Additional information is to be found in attached script information.

Timescript "Timesaver" download: Timescript.zip
This serverscript resets the in-game time every minute to a preset value stored in the script.
Thereby you may achieve the server to stay "morning forever".
Additional information is to be found in attached script information.

"Timelapse" download: Timelapsescript.zip
This serverscript changes the in-game time every minute adding 5 minutes.
Although this produces a small lag each and every time in the game the chosen period is a good compromise in favour of playability.
Using this script a whole "gameday" lasts only 4 hours servertime! You can use this script only when hosting a multiplayergame.
Additional information is to be found in attached script information.

I used to have these but don't anymore, they've been lost to a PC upgrade at some point. Have you checked / asked in chat @ HL and/or in server chat in online servers? Maybe someone running a server still uses them.

Are the sites for Server Commander and the other server management tool still up? There may be script backups at one of those too...

Given a week or two of doing nothing else there is a slim possibility I may be able to recreate some of these scripts, though the chances of me getting that much free time are nearly nil :(. If I recall correctly they rely on or are called from the RCU file....there used to be some detailed topics on how to use that on SimHQ's forums.

Thanks for responding Tully. It seems I am about 7 years too late to the party when it comes to scripting information. Every link I follow is a dead end and the SimHQ IL-2 forums and IL-2 forum archives aren't bringing me much luck except when it comes to using the RCU file to set the icon ranges. Even the Internet Archive hasn't been any help when it comes to trying to follow the dead links.

Let me see what I can work up, but it's going to take a while. I remember when they were in common use and had a good look at them at the time but I'm really rusty at any sort of coding...

Thanks Tully, Do what you can when/if you can I am never in a hurry when it comes to these things.
I know I am not the brightest bulb in the pack but with just a few hints the bulb will normally shine brightly enough for me to see my way.

I believe these scripts still exist somewhere in someone's files but they just haven't seen my plea or don't want to take the time to search their files. :(
What's even more frustrating than no one having the files is that the Internet Archive shows that a couple more of the scripts exist but when you click on the links they can't be found since the files were not crawled before the site went down. All you get is a 404 error page and I think I am the one who caused the Archive to crawl the pages again looking for the files since the dates the files were crawled match the time frame I have been looking for these files.:nonchalance:

Forgot to update this thread.

Coster at the 352nd uploaded to Dropbox what he believes were the four script packs I asked for in my original post. .

352nd_Coster's post with link to script pack (http://www.352ndfg.com/vb/showthread.php?5292-Grille-Chompa-s-Script-packs&p=31410&viewfull=1#post31410)

I am not sure how long the Dropbox link of his will work but it is still working as of today
