In the PS4 build of AC4 at Gamescom, there were 3 different demos available: the "Assassination Mission Demo," the "Fort Mission Demo," and the "Open World Demo." You can see all 3 selectable in the opening menu at 0:47 in this video of the Fort Mission Demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LiAAIqTYsGs

With Ubisoft allowing online publications to take footage of the demos with them, there have been multiple recordings of the Fort Mission Demo uploaded and at least one long take of the Assassination Mission Demo, but I've seen absolutely nothing of the tantalizingly named Open World Demo. Does anyone know anything about this demo, or even better, have any footage of it? The videos of the others were dug up by members of this forum, so I'd like to enlist your aid to find this one as well. Find that buried treasure!

All three of those Demos you're talking about are the three demos that have been released with commentary from Ashraf Ismail

That's probably true, the naval fort demo is exactly the demo offered at Gamescom, and the stealth walkthrough includes the assassination mission demo, but we have no confirmation that the open world one is the same.

It's actually hard to believe that a truly open world demo would even exist, but it's there in the list. If people were allowed to play it, footage or impressions must be out there somewhere, and they'd probably be the most interesting material yet released.

I actually appreciated that long assassination demo video with the inexperienced player; the further from the way the official videos were played, the more we learn about the game.

I think these are all demos we were shown, but they're just playable (except maybe the jungle demo).

I would hope so, the Open World demo being playable would give us important details the others can't provide. If someone could tweet somebody from Ubisoft to ask about this that would be great. I don't know who to contact myself. It's just really strange that this demo supposedly exists but there's absolutely zero media from it.

If you'd like, I highly recommend the hands-on impression in this thread. It is meticulously constructive and touches upon a great deal of concerns. Definitely read it.

Thanks for that, that's a really good write up (I'm a member of The Hidden Blade myself as it happens, great little site). It's clear that he played the Fort Mission Demo, which was the least interesting to me personally, sadly. Still, thanks again, and I still think that if the devs are active on twitter asking them about this wouldn't hurt.
