ok most of the time those discovery programs are kinda nice - with a lot of errors but nothing really serious - but this was absolutely unbelievable. did any of you see it ?

at one time they had some "expert" describing the german fighers. he said there were 2 versions of the 109. the E or emil and the F. the F had a "13mm cannon" in the nose. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and these "two" versions were used throughout the war to 1945 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif and this man was standing next to a 109 in a museum like he knew everything about the subject. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

most of the episode went into describing stalingrad ... again .... actually very well covered historically. but the whole episode was about stalingrad .... again ... and nothing about the crimea airwars - almost nothing about kursk ... like 1 minute .... and the worst thing was that they did not cover the conflict from the russian side at all. same old interviews with stalingrad veterans who were not even pilots (one of them was a ju-52 pilot though).

when 5 minutes were remaining of the episode ... they packed the whole war from summer 1943 to 1945 into a few sentences with a few pictures of irrelevant planes and thats it !

tonight i think they will cover some other theater - hopefully better - but i dont expect much after this terrible episode.

sorry to make a negative post like this - but i had to !..... its not like i have friends that like ww2 planes like i do http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif so who am i gonna whine to ... if not you guys http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I saw a really cool show on the armored battles of the eastern front on discovery a long time ago and virtually all of the footage was western front tanks.

They mislabelled JSU152's as king tigers and PZ-I tanks as T34's among other horrendous errors. But I did find that if you turned the volume off the show was great to watch just for old footage http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Discovery is like that, many shows with errors of one kind or another. I suppose the emphasis on 100% factuality is not there.

Thanks for the heads up.

Some of the shows do upset me.

Secret weopons of the Japan.
Statement
Early 1946 jets are launched off of a CV in the Inland Sea vs US invasion fleet.

I'll give the jets to Japan. If the war had lasted that long there would not been a row boat afloat more or less a CV.
Between the Subs, mining, air, navy nothing was left afloat by the end of the war in & around Japan.

most of the episode went into describing stalingrad

That information was easy to find.Hate to see them reseach the subjects.

Some are good , some are bad.
