And I must say, this is the most fun I've had with IL-2 in a long time! Actually, since setting my server to WWV (today) as some of you call it, after venturing into that dark place.

Sure, I really do love the added intensity of FR settings, and especially the challenge of lining up a good 6 shot and getting the kill. I should tell you a little secret thought; the only difference between killing in WWV and killing in FR is TIME. At least for me. If I am capable against you, I will get on your 6, regardless of the settings. And as far as I'm concerned, the only difference the settings make is, how much time it's gonna take before I'm on your six, or you are on mine.

Basically, at least for me, it all boils down to time/fun. Sure, some WWII pilots went their entire tour never having to engage. For them, I'd say lucky, as would many of their war hardened peers. Playing this sim for more than 10-15 minutes w/o seeing a bad guy=hella boring for me, regardless of the historical value of it. Doing that repeatedly really pisses me off.

So screw it! After a long time (like almost 2 weeks) WWV is back!

NO!!!!!! I beg you no Slammin. #1 reason. YOU CANT SNEAK ANYWERE!!!

When in WWV, you get those BIG arrows showing you everyone. This is bad. You cant sneak up on anyone! You cant sneak past anyone!!!

I was in an He-111 doing a canyon run on the server and a 109Z passed me. I thought "Sure death!" During his loop, I did a quick turn and ducked into a canyon. I was able to compleatly ditch him!!!!! In WWV, there is NO possible way of sneaking to the enemy base. NONE WHAT SO EVER!!! Please change it back. I beg you please.

I was told by a very respected member when I first started hosting that I make for a great server at WWV settings, but that as a FR server this would be a ghost town.

This wise fellow was correct.

I just want to keel somebody. I'd prefer to kill them with cockpit=on, icons=off. I really wouldn't mind killing them historically, if it didnt't take a week.

One would think that with my close-up, head-to-head maps, this could be a possibility, but no! My maps are way too small for the FR crowd. And they are nowhere near historically accurate!

Screw It. I'm going back to o'l school fun. This is what I want. I have a real day job that preceeds learing all about WWII, and even if I had the time to recreate WWII, I'm not so convinced I'd want to do a tour in any military Air Force without ever firing my guns. And not only was that a reality then, it is also a reality on some of the servers here.

Nothing at all wrong with reality servers, but I just wanna keel somebody! Log it later if you wish.

Good for you Slammin. I also enjoy the best of both worlds. I fly VOW and the new Online campaigns in full real because those are war scenarios. But for a DF server, Get off the ground and keel or be keeled! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif

S!

And hopefully nobody else here will feel guilty of letting loose with an A9 or Ki-c monster here and then.

I do appreciate and know that real pilots sometimes flew missions thats taxed every corner of their minds. Heh, having to constantly turn your craft to check your 6, (AWACS?) hah! Conserve fuel. Do not engage 'them' since they are not the target, etc. etc., get the bombers!

Sure, I do understand, and this sim allows all of this, and more. I personally elect to enjoy this aspect of the sim offline though. I can also say without doubt that if you have not used FMB, and most have not, there is a great deal of IL-2 that, though you need not ever see, is there. Awesome sim!

There are way too many ways to enjoy this sim, and there is room for us all!
