Gays are like women, Indians, and pirates.

No-no Assassin territory.

Quoted for proof the next time some braindead gamergate psycho starts bleeting on about 'social justice warriors'.

Very good point. They can make it as if he was married before or got married later after a relationship with a same-gender character that ended somehow or the lover got killed, maybe. Or perhaps, they can make a bisexual assassin who could've had a kid that he doesn't even know of or he was divorced or whatever... We didn't see Connor have any kids but we assumed that he did eventually which is why he's an ancestor of Desmond's.

Mass Effect gave you a bisexual character and a choice to engage in a romance with men or women from your crew. Dragon Age, as well.
An older game named Fear Effect had lesbian women and Assassin's Creed noted Leonardo Da Vinci being suitable for his coworker in the Da Vinci Disappearance DLC. Not to mention how AC:B showed incest between Lucrezia and her brother, Cesare.

Even if there only a few games discuss that, it wouldn't be a problem because if it's done well, it will be welcomed.

Incest is not comparable to gay relationships so don't try and make out it is. Thanks.

Hey Everyone,Since some games have given players the choice to engage in homosexual relationships (like Mass Effect and Dragon Age) and even had some secondary characters being gay/lesbian characters that you cannot customize because they are intended to be that way, yet those games cleverly ditched all stereotypes and tossed them into the trash can.

They showed a hero, a solider, a fighter being a human being and feeling love for another man and that didn't reduce his masculinity nor stood in his way of becoming a hero like any other straight character would. Why? because this is how it is. Straight, Gay, Bi, Lesbian are all human beings and they're capable of anything other members of the human race are capable of.So anyway, if Ubisoft decided to introduce a male homo or bisexual assassin, how would you react to that?

Imagine showing that Connor or Ezio have had desires for men in addition to women or a whole new character is bisexual and you have the choice to engage in romance with male or female characters with you (whether its' a brief scene, unrelated to the story, or a choice-based and story-related element).I personally would definitely welcome it because bisexuality and homosexuality are a part of each country whether they support or suppress it and there's nothing wrong with creating an idol who is powerful, brave, strong, fearless and ambitious regardless of what type of partner they choose to be with.

Share your opinions!Note: for memories to be read, genes must transfer to descendants, the ancestor has to have a child or perhaps a memory seal. In this case, they can just show a MaleXMale relationship without specifying that he's gay or bisexual which leaves it open to think that he could've had a baby that he didn't know of in the past or he got married to a woman and had children..etc.

EDIT: Since we have a thread about wanting a female Assassin and everyone’s debating how the games should accurately represent the different parts of society and the different races and genders, I want to bring this discussion up again. I could be wrong, but I believe that people only defend the causes that interest them or relate to them. Women defend women rights, because they’re women. Straight men may want a female Assassin cause they wanna stare at a sexy lady or want a heterosexual male because they can relate. So how about we talk about a cause that deserves recognition just as much as the others, yet people think it’s unnecessary cause they can’t relate?

To be perfectly honest, I think sexuality, race, gender, color and religion are all personal and insignificant matters that are only important the individuals themselves, not the people around them and that there’s no pride nor shame about being straight, gay, bi, black, white, muslim, christian, arab, american..etc. the extraordinary is in what we do, not who we are and I’m against shoving one’s own sexuality, religion, race or gender down everyone’s throats in the name of pride and recognition.

However, I wanted to bring up this discussion since many people seem to be so hypocritical when it comes to talking about human rights, in general. Example when homophobic straight men consider lesbian porn to be hot while they consider gay sex to be a disgusting taboo against nature, and how it makes you less of a man.

What a stupid thread. Some of you take video games wayyyyy too seriously.

Incest is not comparable to gay relationships so don't try and make out it is. Thanks.

Nowhere did I imply that they are comparable/equal. However, I was saying that there's no risk in showing a homo/bisexual Assassin, because if people could swallow something so unacceptable, socially like incest, then they can accept something which is normal and legal in so many territories, which is homosexuality.

So please, don't put words in my mouth, nor take them out of context to make them sound offensive. When it comes to LGBT rights, I'm the first supporter and the fact that I made this thread, and if you read the OP, you'll know that I certainly have nothing but respect and acceptance to same-gender relationships.

What a stupid thread. Some of you take video games wayyyyy too seriously.

Video games are a form of art. They are to be taken seriously. They're no longer a pixelated Mario looking for a princess, they deal with social, political and religious issues and a lot of people discuss the subjects portrayed in games, music videos, movies, books..etc. You can choose not to take them seriously, but you can't expect everyone to think like you.

Besides, the thread was more of a question than a complaint.

Why did Ezio not recruit Leonardo and his companion!?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Man hell no!!!!!!!!!! the hell I look like making a choice for my character to be a homo? The hell I look like making my character engage in homo sex? I'm a damn man! being a homo voids your manhood automatically. I want to feel like a manly man killing stuff. I want to flirt with beautiful sexy ladies. I want to blow stuff up. I don't want to see no damn man kissing on another man or chasing after a dude like men chase after women. What's next, a tranny assassin? lol.

Homo stuff is weird and nasty to me, It's a disrespect to my manhood. I don't hate or want to harm nobody who participates in that weird nasty crap. But I rather not see or hear about it if I can help it lol. So why in the hell would I want to play a video game with that in it? I cringe/skip it/look away when I see it in real life, movies, and shows. I cringed when I was reading your post lol. I can't do it bruh, I'm too much of a man and I had a father in my life.

I guess you didn't get my whole "manhood" point I was making. As a straight manly man you should automatically get that little joke. But if you can't then your testosterone levels might be a little low bruh.

I think you got what I was saying. I think you are trying to suck me into a back and forth long winded pseudo intellectual debate. If you start saying derogatory remarks, you should expect someone to find offensive in them..

Calling you an 'awful' person - which I'm guessing is the comment you are referring too - which wouldn't have been said if you hadn't said that being gay is 'wrong' 'weird' and 'nasty' - is just them stating their opinion I suppose.

No news about any DLC for the game, so I can't help with that.

I get your sentiment but I don't know how you can detach a character's personality from their life experiences and your life experiences depends an enormous amount if you are male, female, straight, not-straight, white, non-white, Christian, non-Christian and more than anything, if you are poor and not-poor.

It's only straight white male Christian people who have had the privilege to not have ethnicity and background be the sole determinant of their personality, and for the most part that is the view games reinforce and repeat unquestioningly.

I agree with you that the personality is affected by life experiences and it depends enormously if the main character is male or female, straight or non-straight, white or non-white, christian or non christian etc.

The reason I detached Connors life experience and judged only by his overall personality and the voice actors performance,
is the overall execution Ubisoft did with his character.

His personal motivations are subsumed by other stronger personalities that surrounds him in AC3 and the story leads him from event to event in the American Revolution. He meets a lot of historical characters who are either stereotypes like Putnam(the tough guy) or historical characters like James Barret who barely gets any form of development at all. Connor do developed some friendly relations with Samuel Adams, although who suddenly disappears after sequence 8. Connor barley gets the chance to let his personality shine in the story excepts for the moments he had with Haytham & Achilles and the way Ubisoft portrayed him was unjustified to his overall personality. In the game he's mostly angry, naive and a bit short minded. It was in Sequence 11 I started to like him since he had matured. I wish we had seen more of that side of him because he's a great character but when I remembering my first thought of him, I didn't like his very naive personality even if it suited his personality since he were raised in a tribe with no connection to the colonial society and he had almost no knowledge about how the world really works.

He's a good character but due to how Ubisoft portrayed him, I couldn't like as much as I want too imo.

This I agree with completely. Like in the Ezio games, Leonardo is clearly gay but that's not the main part of his personality. The main part is that he's a genius, comes up with impossible, impractical machines, is not very smart in his social interactions. And you know his sexuality comes across in a susblte way as part of character development. Like its strongly suggested that he has a major crush on Ezio but he doesn't let it show because he knows Ezio is straight and that adds a subtext to their interactions. Like when Ezio and Leonardo are sailing to Venice and Ezio's flirting with Caterina, Leonardo is kind of jealous. Then in BROTHERHOOD one of the optional things you have Leonardo try to put an arm around him, which is kind of a cheap gag in my view but they redeem it with the Da Vinci Disapperance, where its part of the story and you can sense that poor Leonardo is this older artist who is starved for affection being exploited by Salai, poor guy.

I wonder if they made Ezio a bisexual, he would be as popular as he is, because many famous womanizers in history were bisexuals (Lord Byron most famously and Marquis de Sade who I'll get to in a moment, several famous Hollywood icons like Marlon Brando, Tyrone Power, Cary Grant). It was also not uncommon among Italian aristocrats at the time. A major flaw of UNITY is that it waters down Marquis de Sade considerably. If he had been the real De Sade, on first meeting Arno he would have slipped him a mickey and taken him a night on the town and call Arno, "Mon petit" in the morning.

I think if Ezio was a bisexual romancer, he would've been considered as an very important and a nuanced video game character for representing bisexuals. I think Ezio would been a bit more popular if he was bisexual instead of being straight.

I was surprised that Ubisoft didn't showed more of De Sades bisexual side with his interactions with Arno. It would have been cool and nuanced if De Sade friendly flirted with Arno and Elise. Instead he appeared as a sassy straight guy since he appeared to be more interesting in women. In the end of the King of beggars assassination, De Sade sats down in a couch next to a woman and kisses her hand and later on Marie Lévesques assassination, he flirts openly with Elise.

Don't understand why things like these needs to be asked. Shouldn't we be equal? Any fan supporting either Templars or Assassins also have(yes, have to. It's part of their ideology) to support equality since their goal is a world of peace were everyone can live sided by side. It's ridiculous to support freedom fighting Assassins and be against equality or support Templars and be against equality. Both cases is a contradiction, no matter what side you choose equality will always be a part of it. It's just different ways to achieve it(fighting for it or give it). And having to ask what people think or would react to protagonist being X(gay, woman, black, Asian etc...) simply show how little humanity has developed.

I'm not close minded..... I just have the urge to puke when I see a gay guy acting all fruity. Probably cause I'm normal? Can't think of any other reason I'd find homos disgusting, I'm not sick in the head.

I'm a "normal" gay guy, and I'd prefer they didn't make a gay assassin. Why? I just don't think they can pull it off. It's too easy to screw it up.

The public pressure to have a gay protagonist is far less than you asssume in the media. There is no "Bloody political crusade", its just that its kind of lame to see the same types of characters all the time. That's all. As times change, people want fictions to reflect or better parallel the reality they know and the kinds of people they are likely to meet and interact with. They will do that or they will die.

The gaming industry has kind of flown under the radar of the larger public because nobody ever took it very seriously until fairly recently. Now that games are given the same standards of scrutiny as novels, movies, music and comics, they are found...vaunting, deeply so. That's why you have this embarassment of the gaming industry recently about how most games are actually pretty bad, nasty and dangerous.

You, no doubt, would view any amount of pressure as being none at all. However, I'm always seeing news stories asking, sometimes even demanding, for various groups to be represented.

I mean, just think back to the Unity female character controversy. And really, that's what it comes down to. I would like to play female characters. I quite enjoyed playing as one (briefly) in The Last of Us. But when it's just for a political show, I can't get behind that.

We should encourage diversity in gaming for one simple reason: to make games more interesting. Simple as that.

Oh, I want to add, though, that I read your post where you talked about Leonardo, and I completely agree. That's what we could use. Just frank depictions of homosexuality that don't make it the focus of the character. It really would work well for Jacob if Syndicate was about the upper-class instead of the slums.

It depends on how much you take "news stories" as a barometer. I mean yes, it matters but does it really sustain itself or does it become ephemera that dies now. There are so many cases where people had an initial outcry and anger and then it died down, right.

I mean, just think back to the Unity female character controversy. And really, that's what it comes down to. I would like to play female characters. I quite enjoyed playing as one (briefly) in The Last of Us. But when it's just for a political show, I can't get behind that.

Well it wasn't a political show. None of the complaints organized anything like a boycott of Ubisoft or tried to ban it like Jack Thompson does for GTA. That is a political crusade because you have public officials devoting time to this as opposed to real issues (like stopping actual violence in real-life).

What happened in the uproar about UNITY is Ubisoft being laughed at and made fun of, and any company who can't understand why their excuse of "women are too hard to animate" sounds lame and pathetic, deserves to be a laughing stock, and they deserve it even moreso if they can't handle criticism or take jokes in the stride.

We should encourage diversity in gaming for one simple reason: to make games more interesting. Simple as that.

Totally agree.

Oh, I want to add, though, that I read your post where you talked about Leonardo, and I completely agree. That's what we could use. Just frank depictions of homosexuality that don't make it the focus of the character.

It's also true to life.

I mean most TV shows generally feature stereotypical gay dudes for token diversity, now that stereotype does have some basis in reality (and some gays are forced to act like that stereotype in order to be part of a group, peer-pressure and all that). Since most TV shows are irredemably bad, this diversity is often the saving grace and is a stepping stone to better depiction, but no one should be satisfied with it or accept it at face value. The problem is in video games basic characterization of say straight-white-dudes are often off-base, and that kind of faux-masculinity was never true (its not even true in John Wayne's westerns, he was a much more subtle actor than people think). But that's acceptable because it has a cultural stereotype, ideally straight-white Men's Rights guys should lobby and complain about games like Duke Nukem perpetuating an offensive depiction of straight-white-maleness but that doesn't happen.

No he was not a Nazi, just a "big dope" (John Ford). He tried to enlist into service during WW2 but he was rejected for medical reasons and the fact that the government felt he would do better as a civilian propagandist for the war.

Whilst I personally have no issue with a gay lead, I know that a lot of countries are still in the dark ages when it comes to gay issues. They would likely ban the sale of the game in their territory, and for Ubisoft that is likely a financial impact that they cannot afford to swallow. It's a sad reminder of how far humanity, and indeed equality, still has to improve.

No way to put homo assassin in the game!

Seriously I am sick of today´s society. Being homo is nothing to be proud of! Don´t get me wrong I have nothing against these people, but let´s be honest here.
Being homo is NOT normal and should not be shown in media, movies, games as something even "cool" (which is little bit happening). These people are unlucky that their orientation is not as mother nature intended. They for sure deserve to be treated as human beings - we do not live in middle ages right? I respect their personality, their opinion etc.

But I am not happy with marriage and especialy raising children by these pairs. I know this sucks and I will get a lot of negative feedback for my opinion, but I feel that making exceptions for something that is minority and is not normal(from nature point of view) is simply wrong. We have normal families who strugle through life and they will not get any help, becasue they are normal...

Being normal healthy human being is begging to be wrong and disadvantage (by the reception of global society).

So my reaction on homo Assassin would be very negative and I would quit the series immediately and continue playing those I already own (all except Rogue and Syndicate).
ACIII is the best anyway. (it needs to get a remake to show how great it is when there are no bugs and FPS drops!)

I do not intend to offend anyone with my opinion. If it somehow offended anyone. I sincerely apologize

Who cares about the "Reception of the global society"? why does it matter what people think? if I love someone, why should someone else's opinion matter? why would two men kissing offend anybody? The reception of global society was against scientists who said that the Earth wasn't the center of the universe, or that it's not flat or that Earth revolves around the sun, not the other way. And guess who was right? well, not the global society which was blinded by it's own ways of thinking.

What does raising children or "being cool" have to do with this? the media portrays gay people because they're part of society, just like black people, white people, muslim, christian, jewish people, arab, american, asian, hispanic people. They're part of our society. I think if someone does not enjoy a homosexual relationship then they should simply not be in one, instead of being disgusted that others want that or that the media portrays that.

I know you're not trying to offend anyone. I'm only trying to correct you that what other people do with their lives has nothing to do anyone. They're not hurting anybody, so they should not be treated like outcasts or judged and evaluated based on the type of partner they like to spend their lives with.

"Normal" is a very subjective term. A lot of things are normal in my country and they totally aren't in the west and vice versa, whether it's driven by religion, culture, science or social values. So let's not being normal into this and let's not claim that nature is agains that because homosexuality exists in birds and various other animals. However, homophobia only exists among ignorant human beings.

No way to put homo assassin in the game!

It's actually possible to put in a game.

Seriously I am sick of today´s society.

For wanting equality? Do you support the Assassins or Templars? Because both of those orders aim for a world where we can live side by side in peace.

Being homo is nothing to be proud of!

The same can be said about every other sexuality.

Don´t get me wrong I have nothing against these people, but let´s be honest here.

Your sick of society(why?), wouldn't buy a game with a Homosexual Assassin, the usual lauded message about it being bad or unnatural. Says it shouldn't be shown anywhere and that they are unlucky for being born who they are. Won't let them do something that won't impact you life at all(marriage/kids) and to top it of you say it's unhealthy. You clearly have so something against it, today's society is evolving. So either die in your old world(middle ages) or live in our new. Being as disrespectful towards someone and their life is low, especially since it won't make your life any different if they were treated as equals.

Being homo is NOT normal and should not be shown in media, movies, games as something even "cool" (which is little bit happening).

It should be treated as equal as it can, we are humans. Who you **** shouldn't be something to be bothered about.

These people are unlucky that their orientation is not as Mother Nature intended.

Blame straight people, they keep making them.

They for sure deserve to be treated as human beings - we do not live in middle ages right? I respect their personality, their opinion etc.

Don't lie to yourself, you've said enough to think otherwise.

But I am not happy with marriage and especialy raising children by these pairs.

Look at your quoted words above, then look at this. This isn't treating them as humans, equals or respectful. You might not be happy about it it what would your reaction be if you lost those rights? You'd fight for it like everybody else.

I know this sucks and I will get a lot of negative feedback for my opinion, but I feel that making exceptions for something that is minority and is not normal(from nature point of view) is simply wrong. We have normal families who strugle through life and they will not get any help, becasue they are normal...

All should be equal, aren't they human beings?

So my reaction on homo Assassin would be very negative and I would quit the series immediately and continue playing those I already own (all except Rogue and Syndicate).

Agree with yourself before saying more, it's contradicting enough.

I do not intend to offend anyone with my opinion. If it somehow offended anyone. I sincerely apologize

You will sooner or later. I'd doubt your apology would be worth more than a child or equal rights, if you're gonna help ruining lives you don't need to apologize.

I think it would be an interesting concept and why not after all!?!

As a Main or on the second plan character it would be still interesting, controversial and original - I would play a homosexual assassin (male or female) without some second guess about it, only if the story is appealing and offers some appropriate dimension to the character(s) presented -

At least Ubisoft would not be accused of offering always the blend and generic character(s) or the hidden character replica from the previous games to the series.

A homosexual Assassin sure! no problem!

But I feel that marriage and family is meant for union of man and woman.

If you didn't intend to offend anyone (which I honestly doubt), then you obviously should not have written crap like "Being homo is NOT normal and should not be shown in media, movies, games" or even imply that something is wrong and unhealthy with a whole demographic of people.

I said I respect these people. I do not affraid of them I would never prevent them from any job, sports or anything like that.

That's human treatment but you still have equality to give.

But I feel that marriage and family is meant for union of man and woman.
I am perhaps too conservative.

"I feel this thing about this thing that don't impact me" "I feel this about that so I'll happy take away human rights" "I feel this etc..." "I feel that etc..."

It's selfish. I doubt they care about what you feel about them, they simply wants to be treated as humans. Not executed or have less rights, your feels us nothing in comparison. Your feels also allow things like executions continue because they are "unlucky and unhealthy".

Holy syht, this thread started back in 2013 wow.

Anyway, let me give you my personal view on homo stuff/gay etc, i got zero problem with gay people in-fact i have 1 gay friend from Utah which we talk a lot and bottom line i'm gonna say the same thing i say always, there is zero problem in my book if men are kissing, holding hands or generally being gay but i find wrong and disgusting when it comes to sexual acts like anal intercourse or 2 men giving masturbation to each other, it's simply not natural but i know it's not their fault, their brains are wired differently i'd say or their inner hormones. It's never been really proven what make makes people gay. And my friend didn't accuse me of anything. He is actually aware of the situation and not some ignorant guy. Oh and yeah i would have nothing against homosexual Assassin in the game.

PS: My friend approves this, u mad?

I don't see anything wrong with a gay assassin, I happen to be gay myself (if you want to call it same sex struggles or whatever fine with me.
I Don't understand why people have such negative attitudes towards the gay/LGBT community and need to be more accepting of those who have those feelings and struggles.
Just because everyone isn't like them (married/have kids, ect) doesn't mean there is something wrong with them that needs to be changed.
I have dealt with these feelings for years and it took several years to comes to terms with my feelings and I came out last year.
I think that a Gay assassin might be interesting to see however seeing most of society it is a Taboo subject to discuss it probably won't happen given the fact most if not all it is a Homophobic/Taboo subject and many do not want to talk about it openly.
I do not mind sharing my story and hope others will listen. Why does it matter who or what someone else is attracted to, that is there own story and feelings, that is how they feel and react to the world around them they didn't "choose," to react that way that is there normal way to reacting that way just as it is normal in some animal species.

So women giving masturbation to eachother is fine in your book, then? What about anal intercourse between a man and a woman, btw? They're heterosexual, is this still unnatural in your view?

It's weird reading posts of the 'I don't have anything against gay people, but being gay is unnatural' variety. That's pretty much like 'I'm not racist, but *here's something racist*'. There's difference between not having problems with smth and being tolerant of something. If you truly wouldn't have problems with gay people, then you wouldn't say things like "this is unnatural" (btw, regarding the 'unnatural' thing, lots of animals engage in homosexual acts, it's not like humans are alone in this, are they behaving 'unnaturally' too, then?), you would just have no problems with gay people.

Stfu yourself, mate. Also, calm your tits, hakuna your tatas, or whichever phrase you like about calming down. Homosexuality is attraction between the same sex (hence the 'homo' part), so it's not just men.

Yeah it find it wrong and disgusting and because it's not natural you seriously wanna debate how men was made and whats natural and whats not?

Where did the 'how men was made' even come from? I just said that homosexuality happens all over the place in nature, so my question was how is it unnatural?

yes that's what i said are you upset brethren

Hey, you're the one losing your **** and being upset.

I'm assuming you have no gay friends idk but i have so i have more insight than you.

I have homosexual friends, both male and female, and a bunch of homosexual acquaintances, so if we're comparing insight based on amount of homosexual friends, then, no, you don't.

You know, you've put this little 'rant' to, I don't know, defend yourself I guess? Not sure what the purpose of that was, cause you didn't address any of my points and there was no clear explanation how viewing something (or some parts of that) as 'wrong, unnatural and disgusting' equals to 'having no problems with it'.

By your logic any sexual act that doesn't result in reproduction is immoral and unnatural. We're not primal beasts for God sake, we have developed emotions and desires that aren't related to our animalistic purpose to impregnate people. We decided to get our ****s sucked because we realized it felt good and it was something we enjoyed sexually. But oh no, that's so unnatural because it's not grounded in our feral purpose to pass on our seed! If you're religious and accept homosexuality that doesn't make you Godless or any less religious. It just means you don't believe in every word it says, which most people don't because there's some scary things in the bible. I mean I doubt most agree with the Bible when it says the punishment for adultery should be murder. Are those people Godless and heretical because they disagree with an ideal in the Bible? If you're talking purely in religious doctrine, then yes they are but in today's advanced society they are not. Things change and people change, even the Pope said that he is no-one to judge when asked about homosexuality.

Look nobody's railing on religion and tradition, plenty of things wrong with the new world too. Technology for instance is pulling people inward and away from proper social interaction. Yeah, people pull out phones from time to time, so what? And for those who want to be antisocial at parties, there's always a book they can read, old school :p

Frankly, it's quite hard for me to judge or compare, as the year in my nickname is my actual year of birth, so I've pretty much almost always lived with these technologies, and it doesn't help that I'm as a person am not the most extraverted (it takes time for me to become truly social with smb, but that's a matter of character not technologies), but to me the deal with technologies making people less social is quite simply not true. At most it's a paradigm shift in human interaction. People don't talk less. One could argue that they interact even more as they can do so anytime anywhere now, I mean, 20-30 years ago, you part ways with friends, you don't talk until your next meeting or maybe a telephone call, but now you can text each other all day between your meetings.

One could argue that they interact even more as they can do so anytime anywhere now, I mean, 20-30 years ago, you part ways with friends, you don't talk until your next meeting or maybe a telephone call, but now you can text each other all day between your meetings.

You could be right, and I've also always lived with these technologies. In fact I'm six years younger than you. ;)

Maybe phones and social media hasn't made us less social but it has made people more annoying. People taking photos of everything, selfie obsessed etc.

Perhaps I'm just a grumpy bastard. :p

Well I don't think people pulled out newspapers during dinner or had them out at parties instead of actually talking, but people today do so with phones. :p

Oh, they absolutely did.

I want an assassin who is short-sighted, and needs to wear glasses. Imagine the struggle and funny moments (mainly in cutscenes). Blood on the glasses. Enemy hits you on the chin, glasses fall down. Your friend takes them away for fun. Enemies underestimating you. Escape sequence without glasses, everything is blurry. Fun times.

I would not be opposed to a homosexual Assassin. I love how universally aware Ubi has been with the diverse ethnicities we already have-- it looks like homosexuality (and even transgenderism) is "in" these days. It would certainly offer something new to the AC franchise, and generally overall

That would be great to have some cute cut scenes!!!And maybe flirting with the enemy to avoid combat :3 but that only works for the few enemies not all....
I think that is the first idea that i like about AC.It would be so magical :3

On the contrary, I'd like it if they focused more on characters whose stories are not dependent on romantic relationship at all. Being bi myself, I really do not care about "muh representation", but to each their own.

This is why I liked Jacob. His story is completely about his duty, his goals for the gang, taking the templars out, ect. No shoehorned strings attached. (Evie and Henry's relationship arc is cringeworthy)

I generally agree as I hate forced romance plots, but almost every AC game has been about something that's not dependent on a romantic relationship. Altaïr in AC1, Ezio in AC2 (one-night stands don't count as romance), Connor, Edward, Adewale, Shay, Aveline, Jacob....Literally the only ones where romance has been an important plot point are ACR and Unity.

Or perhaps an Assassin who needs glasses, but lives in a time before their invention.

I always thought that it was interesting that there was a time where people who needed glasses just pretty much had to deal with not being to perceive sight that well from then on. As an Assassin, maybe heightening their senses would fix this problem.

Or, maybe an Assassin in a future DLC project could permanently need glasses (or be blind) focusing the player to be even more reliant on Eagle Vision.

I honestly agree with you, Pie, it's all getting a bit played-out. "I am Templar, me want control, I am Assassin, me want freedom" over and over and over. I think these games are pretty consistently better when the vanilla Assassin v Templar conflict gets pushed into the background in favor of a more personal and character-driven story, or at the very least, it gets applied to the setting and time period in a uniquely relevant and creative way.

Yeah, I get that. Starrick was a pretty cool character, and it seems like he's earned his place in the Templar pantheon for many fans here... but the Templar plot in Syndicate wasn't all that impressive.

I also prefer games that are less cookie-cutter Templar v Assassin. Black Flag stands out as the most obvious example, but Unity could've been good too.

Having recently played Unity, I couldn't help but notice something. There's supposed to be this treaty between the Assassins and the Templars, something that eventually implodes in the game. If Unity had actually adhered to this storyline, it could've been fantastic! We could've been taking on targets together with the Templars like in ACIII when Connor works with Haytham to take down Church. Alternatively, they could've made it more important that Arno remain secretive, as he was subverting the treaty (which was technically the case, but was hardly really a factor in the game). Anyway, the entire game could've been about trying to preserve this treaty, and having Bellec screw it all up with his meddling in the end (rather than like halfway through, after which nothing really changes anyway, save for the unrelated events of the revolution).

I think it would be nice to have more ***** characters in Assassin's Creed. Whether it be the main character or secondary characters.
And with the Helix we no longer need the ancestor to have children to relive their memories. Although if we were to return to the Animus we could relive the memories of a bisexual/pansexual ancestor. It's important that there is better representation of LGBTQIA+ people in the media.

It better not be ham fisted in like the majority of crap is nowadays, cause y'know every bloody sexual orientation, gender, and species on the planet has to have a character for them or they just won't be able to sleep at night.

Art is art, let it be made naturally and what comes of it comes and what doesn't doesn't.

I get what you're saying, I think- that it would be better to live in a society where having a homosexual protagonist isn't that big of a deal, because it isn't taboo or strange- but I disagree that being "hamfisted" every once in a while can't be a good thing.

This is how progress is made, gentlemen. We aren't swimming in a sea of homosexual or female protagonists right now. Heck, a young white male protagonist would be breaking the mold if he was a redhead, at this point. So, I don't really see anything wrong with having a minority protagonist to get one on the board.

Nevermind protagonists like...

Just to name a FEW from the relatively small amount of games I've played in my lifetime.

The argument never existed, there have been female characters since Final Fantasy 6 and before. This trend of straight white alphas male stereotypes is recent. So Tumblr is either full of 16 year old girls that don't know what they're talking about or women and men that are so mainstream they don't know the names of any games that haven't been advertised out the *** on tv and facebook.

Uh the one all the way on the right bottom corner with the mohawk. That is Joseph Turok, a half Inuit and half Kiowa Native American character from the Turok series, which the main character has always been Native American. One of the most famous native characters in videogame media. ;) Unfortunately it kind of shows how companies dropped on such a rich series like this that not many remember it. Hopefully it comes back guns blazing and dinosaurs roaring again.

And I think I mentioned here before. Sure, why not? Like I mean LGBTQ are people too. Folks shouldn't get all twisted about it in the first place. Talking about denying the right to exist.
My only concern is how this will translate into the lore of the Animus. You need to procreate with the member of the opposite sex to continue on the bloodline after all, and if the person isn't attracted to the opposite sex, well how is a baby made? Is there methods that they've done I am not aware of from back in the day? Like some Ye Old method of ancient insemination? Or did they just ride it through?

No I'm serious I want to have a legit discussion about this. I feel like some people will laugh, but like I said, I want to learn. In the meantime, I'll look more into this with research.

Well, sadly, being gay hasn't always been as accepted as it is today in western society (I know, some societies were historically pretty liberal about this, but it certainly wasn't the rule). So, just because we have a homosexual Assassin doesn't mean that they wouldn't have passed on their genes, probably through a marriage they felt forced into.

The ****, like no lie, I did not mean it for it to be a pun. But that just tough lead right there. It would make for a strong part of the storyline perhaps. Seeing said character being into something they really don't want to, but must for their survival.

^ This. Also, people who argue against an assassin in a same-sex relationship continue to act like bisexuality hasn't existed for thousands of years. Ezio could have had a bit of Leonardo on the side and still ended up with Sofia.

This could not work since it would have to mean the assassin is still not out of the forced relationship by the end of the game which would make the story depressing. He could not be out of the marriage since the reproducing part has to happen after the experiences you are trying to follow in order for it to work.

Ac3 while it did not end perfectly ultimately the end was good. Making the assassin still not out of the marriage would crush his character and would make the game uninteresting/depressing. Don't get me wrong I would be happy to have a homosexual assassin but making him still not out of the marriage would crush the character so as long as ubisoft still keeps using the animus I am against this idea.
