Any suggestions of a good or particularly effcient key binding setup for He-111 controls like the engine control or bombsite

Well, its not advanced but this is how I have my buttons mapped. Number row on top is 1-4: select/unselect engines 1-4, 5 is select all engines, 6 is deslecet all engines, 7 is select left engines, 8 is select right engines. For the bombsight controls I use the numberpad on the right of the keyboard: enter is bombsight automation on/off, + is level stableizer, 0 is adjust sight left, . is adjust sight right, key 6 is increase bombsight elevation, key 3 is decrease bombsight elevation, key 5 is increase alt., key 2 is decrease alt, key 4 is increase TAS indicator, key 1 is decrease TAS indicator. I also use the arrow keys as <- rudder trim left -> rudder trim right, I have an X45 so I map my thumb rotary as elevator trim to keep my bomber level. Page up is pilot position, page down is bomber position, home is top gunner, end is bottom gunner.

I use number on top for toggle engine selection. I use numpad to right for bomb controls. Num Lock=Level Stabilizer, *=Bombsight Automation, 7,9=Angle Adjust, 8,2=Altitude adjust, 1,3=Speed Adjust, 4,6=Yaw Adjust (which I never use, and not sure under what conditions it ever would be used).

I've bound my bombsight keys, but whenever I enter the bombsight "seat," the controls don't work. Same for when I actually look into the sight using Shift + F1. Any help?

Hmm, I would pause the game and enter the controls menu and reset them, its worked for me on a few occasions regarding key settings. If you have them mapped to an X45, open up notepad and press all the keys that you are using, you should see the keys type as the ones you have binded them to. For example I have "D" on throttle as brakes "b", so when I press the "D" key on the X45 I will see b show up on notepad.
